Next summer, Octagon will help bring the excitement of the FIFA World Cup™ to life across some of the nation’s most iconic cities! On behalf of our home improvement client, we’re hiring (3) Regional Directors to lead and help manage the fan festival footprints or participating stadium footprints in their host city markets which will be divided up by region (East, Central, West).  

Responsibilities will include managing fan festival logistics, stadium footprint logistics, main point of contact for Host City committees, develop on-site training documents for the on-site staff at each footprint location, manage on-site scheduling and adjustments, oversee footprint & asset management, event operations and team leadership.  

The position will be responsible for managing each fan festival and stadium team in their respective regions, which include a manager for each footprint in addition to interns who will be executing on-site. Leading up to the tournament each regional director will work standard office hours for planning and prep. Once the tournament begins, the expectation is that you will travel to your respective host cities to help execute fan festival and/or stadium activations.  

A typical day will include working 8 -12 hours outside at one of the fan festivals zones or at the participating stadium within the host city. Because of the localized nature of the events, we prefer that candidates live or have housing in the host city location that aligns with their region (East Region – New York/New Jersey, Central region – Atlanta, West region – Los Angeles). In addition, we ask that each Regional Director be available for a majority of the event schedule, which will run from mid-May through mid-July.  

This will be a great opportunity to get a once-in-a-lifetime experience while being a part of one of the largest sporting events in the world! The right candidate will have large event management and leadership experience, be able to work as part of a larger, cohesive team and collaborate with various internal divisions, client partners/vendors, and consumers. Strong team dynamics skills and excellent interpersonal skills are required for this position.

East – New York/New Jersey*, Philadelphia, Boston, Miami

Central – Atlanta*, Dallas, Houston

West – Los Angeles*, Kansas City, San Francisco, Seattle

Contract Type: W-2 Employment

THE WORK YOU’LL DO

  • Main point of contact for any outside vendor, host city personnel, or sanctioning body representative aligned with your regional host cities
  • Assist the account team in the planning and logistics of each footprint in your region
  • Develop on-site training documents and assist in the on-site staff training sessions
  • Oversee, manage and assist in executing all on-site activities when necessary
  • Oversee the maintenance and security of all on-site activation equipment & assets
  • Assist the on-site manager with daily staff schedules and assignments
  • Serve as a direct liaison between the Managers and the account staff
  • Oversee all temporary staff hours
  • Diplomatically solve any personnel issues within the on-site team if necessary
  • Other related duties as reasonably assigned

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • A passion for and expertise in sports, specifically soccer, entertainment, and/or pop culture.
  • 6-10 years of work experience in event production or experiential marketing
  • Excellent verbal and oral communication skills; fluency in multiple languages is a plus
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Capacity to become knowledgeable about our client’s industry, brand and product offerings
  • Ability to confidently lead and manage on-site staff in each market, applying brand guidelines and operational procedures provided by the Octagon team
  • Ability to lead, manage and diffuse concerns and issues from the on-site team in collaboration with Octagon team
  • Willingness to travel consecutive days, for weeks at a time
  • Strong ability to work as part of a team, demonstrate initiative and solve problems effectively and independently
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, especially PowerPoint
  • Must either live or have housing in specified host cities
  • Full availability for all or a majority of the event days (mid-May to mid-July)
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position at least 50% of the time
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel domestically and work weekends or holidays as needed. Anticipated travel level: High (45%-75%)

This position pays an annualized rate of $90,000, and is not overtime-eligible.
