MSI is seeking an experienced Regional Business Development Manager (“BDM”) with a deep understanding of the personal lines market to join our team. This role will report into the Head of Personal Lines Distribution and is responsible for driving the growth of MSI personal lines products throughout a given region. This entails managing a team of State BDMs, identifying new business opportunities, building and maintaining strong partner relationships, and driving premium growth while overseeing performance and profitability.
Location: Remote, North East Region

Responsibilities

  • Create and lead a team of State BDMs

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing distribution partners

  • Monitor existing relationships with a focus on new business production, renewal retention and partner profitability

  • Collaborate with the Head of Personal Lines Distribution to best target areas of growth, monitor aggregation, and align state performance with regional objectives

  • Meet or exceed target goals through proactive territory management and partner engagement

  • Conduct regular meetings and visits to assess performance, provide updates, and reinforce partnerships

  • Analyze territory performance and provide regular updates to the Head of Personal Lines Distribution

  • Perform market research to identify trends and changes in the competitive landscape

  • Attend industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities and stay informed of industry developments

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in business development

  • Experience leading a team of BDMs is preferred

  • Must hold or be willing to obtain a resident P&C license

  • Proven track record of achieving goals and driving business growth

  • Strong understanding of insurance products, markets, and industry regulations 

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills

  • Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving skills

  • Self-motivated and results-oriented, able to work independently as well as part of a team
