The Regional Business Development Consultant (RBDC) is responsible for driving sales and market share growth of Thrivent’s Life/Annuity products. This position will provide field sales coverage within assigned territory as well as assist in some national assignments to Financial Advisors. The RBDC will possess superior communication skills, excellent organizational skills, strong analytical skills as well as a passion for developing impactful advisor and client relationships.
The RBDC is a highly skilled and sophisticated external product wholesaler. RBDCs proactively interact with Financial Advisors (FAs) in field meetings through external rotations, as well as telephone, email and virtual presentations as needed to position Thrivent products in client’s financial portfolios. They achieve this by mastering and utilizing extensive product knowledge, competitive positioning, sales process skills and case consultation skills. RBDCs are responsible for addressing advanced planning topics where Thrivent products are utilized. This individual will also be responsible for developing and successfully executing upon a business plan, managing the territory, and understanding the greatest opportunities for Thrivent products.
RBDCs provide sales and sales support to Financial Advisors within all channels. 70-80% of their job is focused on consistent and proactive business development activities to create the strategic relationships needed to achieve optimal success.
** Please note, this role supports the Northeast Territory. Ideal candidates live within this geographic area and can expect 50% travel.

         

          

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Develop new and build upon existing relationships within territory. The strategy includes developing a firm rotation, implementing business plans and a sales strategy around focus FA’s and teams identifying business opportunities.  Manage external rotations to meet sales and activity goals.
  • Grow and retain assets within an assigned territory via virtual and in-person engagements with FAs to do point of sale presentations, share sales ideas, provide product information, gather marketing data, provide case consultation, and offer sales support.
  • Demonstrate excellent knowledge/expertise of Thrivent life/annuity products/strategies/technical tools through the educational and sales process with FAs.
  • Continuous improvement on all business development activities (short & long term), including but not limited to marketing, lead development, point of sale presentations, conversions, transaction size, and repeat purchases.
  • Identify sales opportunities for Thrivent products utilizing solution and advice-based concepts.
  • Collaborate with marketing, products, field distribution and other executives to identify innovative product development opportunities.
  • Fulfills in a timely manner required administrative/team responsibilities such as CRM data entry, call reporting, expense reports, conference calls and meetings on time.
  • Adhere to all compliance guidelines including use of pre-approved marketing materials, prospectus requirements and proper licensing.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:  

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience
  • 7-10 years of Financial Industry experience
  • Proven experience (3-5 years) of wholesaling and/or field sales, with demonstrated increases in responsibility
  • Proven relationship building and management skills
  • Excellent ability to communicate complex product related sales concepts
  • Expert level understanding of product features and benefits and their application to individual client needs
  • Business Owner Expertise
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills
  • License Requirements: Series 6, 63 and Life and Health licenses (or must attain within 90 days)
  • Advanced Financial Services designations a plus

The applicable salary or hourly wage range for this full-time role is $79,938.00 - $108,152.00 per year, which factors in various geographic regions. The base pay actually offered will be determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to, location, relevant experience, skills, and knowledge, business needs, market demand, and other factors Thrivent deems important.
