The Hartford’s Group Benefits segment is a market leader in life and disability insurance and an expanding suite of voluntary products and services, providing businesses with the employee benefits solutions necessary to attract and retain top talent.

As a Quote Specialist you will:

  • Accurately and efficiently assesses the benefits needs of new employer groups with 10 to 499 lives, provides knowledgeable responses and requests missing information as required. 
  • Analyzes initial Requests for Proposal (RFPs), underwriting guidelines and product offerings to identify if offer can be made; completes and responds effectively to all RFPs by partnering with internal and external business partners to meet external due dates.
  • Must have fundamental proficiency in manual rating for all products sold in this space (ex: STD, LTD and Life, voluntary products)
  • Systematically scrubs data- both RFP, Census and Experience data, for completeness and in accordance with minimum data requirements.
  • Sets up and builds plan designs in The Hartford's rating system.
  • Reviews rating reports for accuracy and reasonability; understands variances.
  • Provides accurate and timely delivery of proposals, meets quality guidelines and turnaround times. 
  • Manages work queue, escalates urgent issues to manager and proposes work solutions as necessary.
  • Processes rerates as needed and engage others for assistance when needed.
  • Proactively maintains case status in systems and assists field partners when needed.
  • Champions continuous improvement and change through identifying, planning and implementing improvements for the team or department.
  • Participates in special projects which support segment needs and effectively assesses and communicates business impacts.
  • Adheres to required documentation standards.
  • Must be proficient in Excel.

Qualifications:

  • College degree preferred or equivalent experience with financial ratings preferred.
  • Knowledge of employee benefits products; must be able to review and understand prior carrier booklets.

Additional details:

The workload for this role will sometimes require overtime and that is typically in the late Summer and Fall. There is also limited PTO during that period – August through October.

This role can have a Hybrid or Remote work arrangement.  Candidates who live near one of our office locations will have the expectation of working in an office 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).   Candidates who do not live near an office will have a remote work arrangement, with the expectation of coming into an office as business needs arise.

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$46,240 - $69,360
