This position reports to:
Quality Manager__
In this role, you will have the opportunity to ensure ABB Pinetops has the necessary capabilities to effectively control products and systems. Each day, you will ensure compliance with internal, customer, and industry requirements within a cost-effective and safe working environment. Overseeing the test, inspection, and technician teams, you will control quality with systems, tools and teams to exceed expectations while ensuring sustainable operations and only compliant products are released to the customer.
Reporting to the Plant Quality Manager, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining the 2nd and 3rd shift quality testing, inspection and technician teams which support production. Your hours will primarily be 2nd shift. You will manage all aspects in line with guidance from ABB Group/division/business area.
The work model for the role is: onsite (#Li-Onsite) and will support the second and third shifts.
You will be mainly accountable for:
- Assessing risks and safety hazards and implementing plans to ensure personnel and equipment safety
- Collaborating with HR to ensure that the quality team is staffed, developed, directed, and accountable while ensuring effective training and cross training of employees
- Focusing on preventing issues rather than just control, and driving the utilization of process management to deliver consistent results
- Identifying and recommend process and equipment improvement opportunities, implement projects
- Performing audits and ensuring the use of analytics to identify risks, failures and non-conformances, and ensuring that appropriate action is taken
- Preventing mistakes and defects in products and avoiding problems when delivering solutions or services to customers
- Enabling and coaching all employees to evaluate risks, problems and solutions from a customer/stakeholder point of view
Qualifications for the role
Five years of professional experience in Quality, Manufacturing, or Engineering
A Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field or equivalent is preferred
Sound knowledge of quality tools including RCA, 8D, and CAPA and sound knowledge of test techniques, voltage and current testing equipment (current power and protection market) is a plus
Knowledge of SAP, Microsoft Office, and Power BI are a plus
A collaborative, solution-focused approach and strong written and spoken communication skills
Understanding of ISO 9001:2015 requirements and familiarity with IEEE standards, UL Requirements and SAP strongly preferred
Prior supervision is a plus
