At Relativity Space, we’re building rockets to serve today’s needs and tomorrow’s breakthroughs. Our Terran R vehicle will deliver customer payloads to orbit, meeting the growing demand for launch capacity. But that’s just the start. Achieving commercial success with Terran R will unlock new opportunities to advance science, exploration, and innovation, pioneering progress that reaches beyond the known.

Joining Relativity means becoming part of something where autonomy, ownership, and impact exist at every level. Here, you're not just executing tasks; you're solving problems that haven’t been solved before, helping develop a rocket, a factory, and a business from the ground up. Whether you’re in propulsion, manufacturing, software, avionics, or a corporate function, you’ll collaborate across teams, shape decisions, and see your work come to life in record time. Relativity is a place where creativity and technical rigor go hand in hand, and your voice will help define the stories we’re writing together. Now is a unique moment in time where it’s early enough to leave your mark on the product, the process, and the culture, but far enough along that Terran R is tangible and picking up momentum. The most meaningful work of your career is waiting. Join us.

About the Team:

The Quality team is focused on embedding quality into every part of the design and production process for Terran R. Not just inspecting at the end but influencing how things are built from the start. The team embeds themselves directly within design, manufacturing, test, and launch teams to stay close to the hardware, understand constraints, and proactively shape decisions. As we move beyond initial development into production and then scaled operations, now is the time to put the right processes, controls, and inspections in place without slowing down progress. The team plays a key role in balancing risk, driving a culture of ownership, and ensuring that speed doesn’t come at the cost of reliability. Success here means building a quality system that scales with the Terran R program and Relativity as a whole.

As a Quality Specialist, you will ensure our products consistently exceed established standards through proactive monitoring and rigorous onsite inspections. You will lead the identification of non-conformances, collaborating directly with Supplier Development and Build Quality teams to elevate our production landscape. In this role, you will architect the frameworks for managing Non-conformance reports (NCs), Material Review Boards (MRB), and CAPA activities, driving operational excellence to systematically eliminate recurring issues

About the Role:

  • Lead the site MRB process, including inspection of non-conforming parts, root cause support, disposition execution, internal rework coordination, accurate data entry, and Vendor RMA management in partnership with Warehouse and Buyers
  • Execute and oversee First Article Inspection (FAI) activities, verifying incoming material and coordinating supplier-submitted FAI data for acceptance
  • Manage quality containment activities for non-conforming material, tooling, and inspection equipment to protect production capacity and minimize operational impact
  • Develop and implement inspection plans across incoming, in-process, and final inspection stages in alignment with Product Quality Engineering requirements
  • Drive quality systems and continuous improvement initiatives, including policy and procedure development, productivity enhancements, and quality performance improvements
  • Support quality infrastructure and compliance, including calibration management, internal audits, and deep analysis of traceability data to identify trends and mitigate quality risks

About You:

  • 5+ years of experience in metrology inspection or quality-focused manufacturing roles, operating within structured production environments
  • Hands-on experience working under AS9100, ISO 9001, IATF 16949, or comparable Quality Management Systems (QMS)
  • Proficient with calibrated metrology equipment, including calipers, micrometers, CMM, Faro arm, OMM, and related precision measurement tools
  • Strong technical interpretation skills, including GD&T (ASME Y14.5), engineering drawings, wire diagrams, work instructions, and CAD models
  • Experienced in investigative and validation activities, utilizing X-ray inspection, digital characterization tools, material certifications, and assembly-level testing to analyze and communicate inspection results
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized team contributor, capable of independent work, cross-functional collaboration, and eligible to access export-controlled data (U.S. Person status required)

Nice to haves but not required:

  • Technical or Associate’s degree in Quality, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering, with certifications such as ASQ CQE/CQIA and IPC-A-610 or IPC-A-620
  • Experience inspecting electrical and electronic assemblies, including power supplies, PCBs, and wire harnesses within regulated manufacturing environments
  • Proficient with manufacturing and quality systems (Jira, MES, ERP, Teamcenter, CAD) and knowledgeable in Lean, Six Sigma, TQM, TPS, and LRIP production environments
  • Experienced in auditing high-stakes manufacturing processes, operating as a detail-oriented self-starter who communicates effectively across cross-functional teams
