The Role
Defiance GPS is looking for a talented Quality Engineer to join our team as a Launch Quality Engineer. This person will be responsible for protecting the customer through monitoring and evaluating internal production processes, examining products to determine their quality, and engaging with sub-suppliers, among other duties.
What You'll Do: (Responsibilities)
  • Manage - guide, lead & direct quality technicians
  • Understanding customer expectations of and needs from a product
  • Developing quality control processes
  • Supervising and monitoring production standards
  • Monitoring and evaluating internal production processes
  • Evaluating the final output of products to determine their quality
  • Rejecting products that fail quality standards
  • Engaging with customers and gathering product feedback
  • Producing statistical reports on quality standards
  • Reporting to upper management on quality standard issues
  • Improving production efficiency and managing waste

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
  • High School Diploma or GED are required
  • 3+ years of experience in Quality Engineering
  • Ability to work / rotate through all 3 shifts (1st, 2nd & 3rd)
  • Ability to work over-time, weekends, holidays, etc. as needed
  • Excellent attention to detail. Highly conscientious and diligent.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and with others.
  • Capable of handling multiple projects without direct supervision. Analytical ability where problems are unusual or difficult.
  • Interpersonal skills to work effectively with others.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing operations, processes, and best practices.
  • Basic understanding of quality principles.
  • Knowledge/ability to implement lean manufacturing principles.

What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
  • Preferred: College degree or equivalent training/experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in Quality Engineering.
  • Experience in casting/propulsion processes and equipment.
  • Multiple different manufacturing assignments with successful individual achievements or strong team-based achievements.
  • Problem solving experience with Practical Problem Solving, 7-Diamonds, Red-X
  • Quality control certification.
  • Data analysis and statistical aptitude.

Compensation:
The compensation information is a good faith estimate only. It is based on what a successful applicant might be paid in accordance with applicable state laws. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position, as well as geography of the selected candidate. • The salary range for this role is ($78,000 - $105,700). The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position. • Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
