Technical Shared Services (TSS) – Project Shared Services

This position is looking for an individual to support from Georgia or Alabama Major Capital Projects across the Southern Company Enterprise.

Relocation/per diem assistance may be available if the successful candidate does not already live within a reasonable commute distance.

JOB SUMMARY 

This position serves to provide support services for major capital projects across the Southern Enterprise for Capital Projects, from within our Technical & Shared Services (TSS) organization. This position is responsible for support of Construction Services (contracting support and constructability), Project Management Office support, enterprise project tool deployments, estimating, Front End Planning (FEP) for major projects, and interface with Project Controls deployments during implementation periods. Responsibilities include working closely with various TSS departments as well as external groups. This role requires the ability to review and if needed, develop work products such as: project scope documents, cost estimates, P6 schedules, and project assessments. 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Develop and implement the framework for project shared services to support business unit goals and project execution excellence.
  • Establish and maintain corporate standards, procedures, and tools for project delivery and governance.
  • Lead support functions for complex, multi-million-dollar EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) projects and portfolios of projects across renewable, fossil, and industrial sectors.
  • Ensure alignment of project execution plans with contractual, safety, and quality requirements.
  • Support risk management, contingency planning, and change management processes across all projects through all stages of project develop lifecycle.
  • Support contract negotiation, interpretation, and administration for lump sum, cost-plus, and incentive-based contracts.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance and adherence to corporate governance standards.
  • Assess and support Implementation of performance improvement initiatives for challenged projects and underperforming areas.
  • Develop and mentor project management professionals to build organizational capability and succession planning.
  • Collaborate with business development teams to support proposal development, estimating, and bid reviews.
  • Conduct financial analysis and forecasting for project portfolios to ensure risk mitigation in FEP stage.
  • Drive value engineering, lessons-learned programs, and process optimization across all project phases.
  • Support earned value management and reporting systems to track project performance through FEP and transition to implementing teams.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education (preferred):

  • Bachelor’s degree; advanced degree (MBA or JD) preferred.
  • Preferred disciplines include Building Science, Construction Management, Engineering, or another related field. 
  • Project Management Professional or similar accreditation/professional license beneficial

Experience (required):

  • 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) project environments.
  • Proven success in supporting large-scale power, industrial, or infrastructure projects up to $1B in scope.
  • Strong background in contract management, risk analysis, and project controls.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and improve project performance.

Experience (preferred):

  • Power generation experience
  • Industrial experience
