Forward Financing is a financial technology company based in Boston, Massachusetts with team members throughout the United States, Dominican Republic, and Canada. The company is on a mission to unlock the capital that fuels small businesses across America. Recognized as a Best Place to Work by Built In Boston and certified as a Great Place To Work®, Forward is investing in its employees, technology, and customer experience – with long-term success in mind every step of the way.

The Opportunity

We are scaling our technology roadmap to support our next phase of growth. To achieve this, we are evolving our delivery culture from best effort to High-Performance Predictability.

We are seeking a Project Manager to join our Enterprise PMO. This is not a tick-the-box admin role. It is a strategic leadership position. You will partner directly with Product Leadership to ensure our most critical initiatives, the ones that directly help our customers, ship on time, on budget, and with the quality our brand promises.

The Role: Two-in-a-Box Execution

You will operate in a Two-in-a-Box model with Product Management.

  • Product owns the What (Strategy & Definition).

  • You own the How (Execution & Delivery).

Together, you share accountability for the business outcome. You will enable our Product and Engineering teams to do their best work by removing ambiguity, managing cross-functional dependencies, and creating a predictable path to launch.

What You Will Do

1. Drive Predictable Delivery

  • Own the Execution: Lead 3-4 concurrent Strategic Initiatives from concept to launch. Your goal is to ensure that what we commit to our customers is exactly what we deliver.

  • Champion the Schedule: You will translate business goals into actionable timelines. When we set a hard launch date, you work backward to manage the critical path and ensure Engineering has what they need to stay unblocked.

2. Governance as an Enabler

  • Guide the Process: Manage initiatives through our Product Development Life Cycle (PDLC). You act as the steward of quality and ensure projects meet clear Stage Gate criteria before moving from Definition to Build. This discipline protects the team from scope creep and churn.

  • Maintain the Source of Truth: You will ensure that our System of Record (Jira /Monday.com) reflects reality. By maintaining a clear baseline scope, you provide the clarity the organization needs to make smart decisions.

3. Control Tower Visibility

  • Transparent Reporting: We value radical transparency. You will provide Senior Leadership with clear variance reporting by highlighting deviations in Scope, Schedule, or Budget.

  • Proactive Problem Solving: If a project risks slipping, you don't just report it. You flag it early and bring data-driven solutions to the table. We believe bad news early is better than surprises late.

4. Risk & Dependency Management

  • Connect the Dots: Our projects impact Sales, Underwriting, Analytics, Legal, Marketing, and Operations. You will proactively map these dependencies and ensure that non-technical workstreams are fully integrated into the project plan.

  • Resource Clarity: When priorities conflict, you provide the data needed for the Portfolio Committee to make fair and stack-ranked resourcing decisions.

Qualifications
  • 5+ years of Project/Program Management experience, explicitly in Fintech, Banking, or Regulated Industries.

  • Proven track record of managing cross-functional portfolios (Product, Eng, Legal, Ops) with hard deadlines.

  • Governance Expertise: Experience implementing or managing strict Stage Gate / PDLC frameworks.

  • Tooling Mastery: Deep proficiency in Jira/Confluence and Monday.com. Experience with Engineering Intelligence tools (e.g., Jellyfish) is a strong plus.

  • Certifications: PMP / CSM certifications are preferred, but battle scars from complex deliveries are valued more.

Compensation:

Annual Targeted Salary: $120,000– $140,000 USD

Annual Target Bonus: 10%

At Forward Financing, we're committed to fair and transparent compensation. We believe in providing a compensation package that recognizes your skills, experience, and the unique value you bring to our team. We take a market-based approach to pay, regularly reviewing benchmark data to ensure our compensation remains competitive, equitable, and aligned with our performance-driven culture.

Final offers are determined by a variety of factors, including the candidate's qualifications, relevant experience, specific skills, and internal equity. This approach ensures that our compensation is competitive and equitable. Your recruiter will provide specific details on the expected base and variable earnings as it pertains to this specific role.

Total Rewards:

Additionally, we offer a comprehensive total rewards package, including but not limited to: medical, dental, vision, commuter benefits, a flexible time-off policy, paid parental leave, 401k match for US employees, wellness reimbursement, volunteering days, annual professional development budget, and charitable donation match.

Forward is proud to be a remote-first company, keeping workplace flexibility a top priority for our employees. As a business, we are focused on impact; we are more concerned with your contributions to the success of the company than where you get your work done. To help facilitate in-person collaboration, employees are welcome to work from one of our premiere office locations.

When we aren’t collaborating to drive business and support our customers, we’re finding virtual and in-person ways to get to know our colleagues, celebrate team wins, and have fun together!

  • Drive the Mission - We believe in financial opportunity for underserved small businesses. We say “yes” when others say “no.”
