This position reports to:
Engineering Manager__
In this role as a Project Engineer, you will be the technical authority and support person for the design and development of Low Voltage Motor Control Centers Buckets for the aftermarket applications.
The work model for the role is: #LI-onsite.
This role is contributing to the ELSE Division in Mebane, NC.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and execute electrical design projects for Low Voltage MCCs
Develop detailed electrical drawings, bills of materials, and technical documentation for manufacturing and customer use.
Provide hands-on support to production staff, addressing issues quickly with a strong sense of urgency and ownership.
Serve as a technical point of contact for customer inquiries, design reviews, and engineering support.
Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards (e.g., IEEE, ANSI, UL).
Participate in design validation, testing, and continuous improvement efforts.
Collaborate with Mechanical Engineering, quality, supply chain, and manufacturing teams to optimize product performance and cost.
Drive innovation through R&D initiatives, contributing to new product development and product improvements.
Qualifications for the role:
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
5+ years of experience in electrical design engineering, preferably in low voltage equipment (MCCs, switchgear, panelboards).
Experience with product development and R&D processes.
Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, sheet metal design, and enclosure systems.
Proficiency in CAD tools (Eplan P8, SolidWorks, SolidWorks Composer, Creo, AutoCAD or similar) and PLM systems
Ability to read and interpret customer specifications and technical standards.
Experience working in a factory environment or close collaboration with production teams.
Strong understanding of risk identification and mitigation strategies in engineering projects.
Candidates must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
