RK&K is hiring a Geotechnical Engineer to join our Charlotte Office. RK&K has been present in North Carolina for over sixty years! As a Geotechnical Engineer at RK&K you will have the opportunity to work across disciplines to prepare plans and reports related to a variety of geotechnical projects for variety of clients in the transportation and municipal sectors; you will conduct and supervise field investigations and develop design computations; and prepare of geotechnical recommendations, contract plans, specifications, and construction cost estimates.

 

Essential Functions

  • Assist in the development geotechnical portion of proposals and subsurface exploration programs,
  • Perform geotechnical analysis using approved software,
  • Preparation of bridge, roadway and retaining wall inventory reports and foundation recommendations,
  • Post-bid retaining wall plans,
  • Foundations recommendations for other structures,
  • Innovative design concepts related to Geotechnical Engineering

 

Required Skills and Experience

  • BS degree in Civil Engineering
  • Four (4)+ years of Geotechnical Design experience, NCDOT experience
  • Professional Engineer License 
  • Significant understanding of the following: gINT, LPile, APile, MSEW, FB-Pier, and GRLWEAP
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Knowledge of Microstation
  • Passion for client service and engineering

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • MS or advanced degree in Civil Engineering
  • Seven (7)+ years of Geotechnical Design experience, NCDOT experience
