About the Opportunity
The Public Health Law Watch (PHLW) is an initiative of the George Consortium in collaboration with the Center for Health Policy and Law - School of Law (CHPL) at Northeastern University. We monitor and analyze litigation activity that affects public health authority. CHPL and PHLW have recently launched the Advancing Public Health and Health Equity in the Courts (Amicus) program to initiate a coordinated effort to strengthen public health and health equity in litigation.
The PHLW is looking for a fully remote-eligible, part time, non-benefits eligible Project Coordinator to support the Amicus program team, under the leadership of the Program Director. The Project Coordinator will be responsible for administrative, communications, logistical, and programmatic elements of the project. This role will assist on a variety of impactful projects, working closely with leadership and varied constituents to create, maintain and monitor project documentation. The role will work with the Program Director to ensure project timelines and deliverables are met by coordinating with diverse stakeholders on action items to achieve desired outcomes. The role will be responsible for developing and maintaining databases to keep track of individuals and organizations who have been engaged in the project, developing a virtual rolodex of legal contacts, and coordinating virtual meetings. This role will manage all logistical arrangements for programming including program attendees, speakers, and travel arrangements. The Project Coordinator will draft communications, such as emails, social media posts, and other outreach materials; as well as update the website.
Required qualifications: Ideal candidates will be able to demonstrate previous experience running or managing projects; strong time-management and effective communication skills; ability to prioritize both routine and high-level tasks and demands; collaborate with an interdisciplinary team; plan and coordinate events and program logistics; maintain and disseminate information in an accessible and organized manner; and approach problem-solving with agility and professionalism. Strong analytical ability and attention to detail are important for this role. Ability to independently deliver high quality, organized and repeatable results. Candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office products and have an understanding and knowledge of social media. Knowledge and skills normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 2 – 4 years of professional experience.
Preferred qualifications: Factual, direct style of communication is effective in this role. Knowledge or strong interest in law, public health, and/or health equity is a plus but not required. Strong candidates have experience with website management.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Administrative Support (50%)
Includes developing and maintaining databases to keep track of individuals and organizations who have been engaged in the project and developing the virtual rolodex. Organizing virtual meetings and team and stakeholder communication. Serve as a point of contact for the project: review inquiries, determine the course of action to take, and complete, delegate or escalate to the person best able to address the problem.
Programmatic Support (45%)
Tracking project activities and coordination to ensure deliverables met; event planning; speaker and attendee outreach and logistics support; drafting email communications; and updating the website and social media accounts. Oversee services with vendors and resolve issues as needed.
Other (5%)
Other duties as assigned such as assisting with special projects, reports, or forecasting.
