Description

 Salem Sports Events is looking for a hands-on, driven Production Manager to lead our fabrication and manufacturing operations. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced production environment, enjoys leading teams, and is passionate about improving processes, quality, and efficiency.

As Production Manager, you’ll oversee day-to-day shop operations, production schedules, workflow optimization, quality control, and team leadership across fabrication, finishing, CNC, and paint operations. You’ll play a key role in implementing LEAN manufacturing practices, driving productivity, and ensuring projects are delivered on time and to the highest standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned):

• Responsible for all production processes, staff, and production schedule.

• Management of all day-to-day shop operations.

• Coordinate with the Enterprise Scheduler and Project Manager to facilitate work.

• Relay project details to the Shop Lead for the creation of work packets.

• Staffing oversight to include: Shop Lead, Fabricator(s), Finisher(s), CNC Operator(s), Painter(s)

• Project oversight to include:

o LEAN-based flow and processes through shop

o Build sequencing for trailer packing

o Quality Control

• Conduct performance appraisals and manage PTO requests for direct reports.

• Maintain efficient workflow throughout the shop.

• Lead efforts to ensure quality standards are maintained prior to customer pick up/shipment.

• Responsible for drawing breakdown of renderings and illustrations.

• Break-down mechanical drawings and new projects into material requirements and cut sheets for the team.

• Oversight of Procurement for the following, but not limited to:

o Personal Protective Equipment

o Hardware & fasteners

o Cutting blades and bits

o Plastics and non-metallics. substrates

o Aluminum extrusions and sheets

o General shop consumables.

o Other materials, as needed.

• Accountable for creating and updating Standard Work and Process Flows

• Conduct Root Cause Counter Measures (RCCM) when necessary for Problem Solving.

• Accountable for Key Performance Indicators, to include Safety, Quality, Delivery, Productivity & Cost

• Ensure inventory accuracy by maintaining:

o Maintain records for material consumption

o Assist Procurement in Physical Inventory counts

• Responsible for maintaining and updating MDI board

• Maintain 5S in the shop and work areas.

• Facility Oversight to include:

o Equipment Upgrades / Repairs

o General Maintenance

Knowledge and Skills:

• Strong leadership and organizational skills.

• Familiarity with LEAN manufacturing principles and quality control processes.

• Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.

Education and Work Experience:

• Relevant experience in production management or a related field is preferred.

Reporting to this Position Lead and Shop Personnel.

Expected Hours of Work/Travel: This is a full-time position in the Winston Salem office during regular business hours. Days and hours of work are dictated by the nature of the scope of work which can include long hours and weekend work.
