Job Description Summary

Vanguard's Financial Advisor Services Digital team is looking for an outcome-driven and client-centric product manager passionate about solving complex identity challenges to unlock personalization across advisors.vanguard.com. This PM will lead our identity product strategy, a critical enabler of our ambition to offer the right message to the right advisor at the right time. By creating seamless ways to collect actionable, valuable advisor data, this PM will enable personalization at scale and support downstream programs that deepen engagement and drive business growth. They will join a talented, collaborative team of engineers, data analysts, UX designers, and user researchers to reduce user friction in our authentication systems, find new ways to deepen our understanding of advisor identity and needs, and prioritize the infrastructure that powers these experiences.

Our mission is to provide advisors with the information, tools, and insights they need to better serve their clients, highlighting Vanguard as a trusted partner. As a product manager, you will contribute to both product discovery and delivery. You will find opportunities that drive the team’s outcomes and improve the advisor experience, and partner with your product team to bring new capabilities and features to life. 

This role offers the opportunity to shape foundational infrastructure for advisor engagement, deepen expertise in digital identity and access systems, and play a central role in unlocking the advisor site’s potential as a scalable growth engine. You’ll contribute to strategic personalization initiatives, gain exposure to enterprise-scale identity systems, and enable seamless transitions from anonymous to known users. 

The ideal candidate will have:

  • An owner’s mindset, including overcoming obstacles to get things done 

  • The ability to use data, research, and context to make good product decisions 

  • Clear communication skills 

  • Experience with authentication systems, onboarding and conversion flows, or identity resolution technologies (e.g., third-party identity graphs). 

  • Pluses: familiarity with Adobe Analytics, Tableau, and query languages (e.g., SQL); experience working in Kanban 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Support the Product Management Lifecycle: Apply product management, agile, and design thinking practices to guide the team through the product development process—from identifying the right problems to experimenting with potential solutions and launching new features. 

  • Shape Identity and Onboarding Strategy: Own the identity roadmap, collaborating with engineering, data, marketing, and product leadership to develop our approach. Define and track leading indicator metrics such as login conversion, advisor identification accuracy, and funnel progression to enable our broader engagement and conversion goals. Focus areas may include login flows, advisor data collection touchpoints, and progressive profiling. 

  • Prioritize the Advisor Experience: Continuously seek out friction points related to identity and onboarding and prioritize enhancements that improve engagement and progression through the site. 

  • Communicate Effectively: Share findings and recommendations through clear presentations and roadmaps. 

  • Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work closely with a team of engineers, designers, analysts, and researchers to deliver impactful solutions. 

  • Develop Industry Understanding: Build knowledge of the U.S. advisor industry, Vanguard Financial Advisor Services, and the authentication landscape to inform product decisions. 

Responsibilities:

  • Provides digital product management services on a digital product, applying functional expertise to improve digital product results.

  • Collaborates with small cross-functional teams to demonstrate best practices that drive significant change to the client experience.

  • Coaches digital product teams towards best practices and learnings.  Ensures delivery of messaging, communication, and customer outreach as necessary.

  • Partners with stakeholders to resolve production and implementation issues in a timely manner, and supports/drives escalations where required to enable rapid delivery.

  • Leads the planning, development and implementation of a new digital product.  Defines and analyzes markets, developing detailed product features and requirements, and developing implementation plans.

  • Employs a variety of qualitative and quantitative analysis techniques to continually improve the user experience.

  • Participates in and provides recommendations for ongoing business planning and departmental prioritization activities.

  • Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of three years related work experience. Two years of managing a project preferred. Financial Services or function-specific experience preferred.

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience.
