The year 1954 marked a significant milestone in thermal insulation history. Armstrong’s R&D Project Number 54013, developed by three innovators, evolved into ArmaFlex, the world's first flexible, closed-cell elastomeric foam for equipment insulation. This product revolutionized the insulation industry. Today, more than 70 years later, ArmaFlex continues to be a pillar of Armacell's success. 


The Product Manager is responsible for driving profitable growth, market leadership, and innovation across Armacell's Advanced Insulation and Component Foams portfolio. This role serves as the voice of the customer and market, translating customer needs, industry trends, competitive insights, and business objectives into actionable product strategies and roadmaps. The Product Manager owns the complete product lifecycle, from opportunity identification and business case development through commercialization, portfolio optimization, and end-of-life decisions. This individual will also have oversight of the stage gate process and review gate transition with the leadership team. Work closely with Regional facilities in North America, Marketing, Sales, Operations, Quality, Revenue Management, and Finance, the Product Manager develops and executes market penetration strategies that accelerate growth, expand market share, enhance customer value, and improve portfolio profitability.

Key Responsibilities

Product Strategy and Portfolio Management

  • Develop and execute product and portfolio strategies that align with Armacell's growth objectives and market priorities.
  • Identify, evaluate, and prioritize market opportunities to drive revenue growth, margin expansion, and competitive differentiation.
  • Establish and maintain product roadmaps informed by customer needs, market trends, technology developments, and business goals.
  • Manage the full product lifecycle, including new product introduction, portfolio optimization, product extensions, rationalization, and end-of-life decisions.
  • Monitor portfolio performance and recommend actions to improve sales growth, profitability, and return on investment.

Market and Customer Insights

  • Serve as the market expert and customer advocate for Advanced Insulation & Component Foams.
  • Conduct market research, customer visits, voice-of-customer activities, and competitive assessments to identify unmet needs and emerging opportunities.
  • Analyze market trends, customer requirements, regulatory developments, and competitive dynamics to shape product strategy.
  • Develop deep understanding of target applications, end-user requirements, and industry value chains.

Innovation and New Product Development

  • Lead the development and execution of new product initiatives using Armacell's stage-gate process.
  • Define market requirements, customer value propositions, business cases, product specifications, pricing strategies, and commercialization plans.
  • Partner with R&D and technical teams to ensure product development efforts align with customer needs and strategic priorities.
  • Drive cross-functional alignment to ensure successful product launches that meet financial and operational objectives.

Commercialization and Business Performance

  • Develop and execute go-to-market strategies, including positioning, distribution channel strategies, and launch plans.
  • Partner with Sales and Marketing to create compelling value propositions and customer-facing materials that support growth objectives.
  • Track and analyze key business metrics, including revenue, market share, customer adoption, and product performance.
  • Recommend investment and portfolio decisions based on financial analysis and market dynamics.

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Lead cross-functional teams to deliver strategic initiatives and achieve business objectives.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, R&D, Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, Revenue Management and Finance to ensure successful execution across the product lifecycle.
  • Support Quality and Technical teams in evaluating product performance issues, identifying root causes, and implementing sustainable corrective actions.
  • Foster alignment and accountability among stakeholders while influencing without direct authority.

Product Enablement

  • Own and continuously improve product training programs, ensuring commercial and technical teams are equipped to support customer needs.
  • Develop product positioning, competitive intelligence tools, and educational content to strengthen market adoption.
  • Support customer engagement activities, industry conferences, and strategic growth initiatives.
  • Provide market intelligence and actionable insights gathered from customers, industry associations, competitors, market research, and sales teams.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Marketing, Business, or a related field required.
  • MBA or Master's degree preferred.
  • 5-10 years of product management, marketing, business development, engineering, or related experience within the foam, polymer, industrial materials, manufacturing, or adjacent industries.
  • Demonstrated success managing products throughout the full product lifecycle, from concept through commercialization and portfolio optimization.
  • Experience leading cross-functional product development initiatives and bringing new products to market working in a cross-cultural, global team environment.
  • Experience developing business cases, growth plans, and commercialization programs preferred.
  • Strong strategic thinking and business acumen with the ability to connect market insights to business outcomes.
  • Proven ability to identify growth opportunities and translate them into actionable product strategies.
  • Strong analytical skills, including portfolio management, profitability analysis, and market assessment.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong technical aptitude and ability to translate technical concepts into customer-focused solutions.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and influencing skills across all organizational levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in global, matrixed, and cross-cultural environments.
  • Self-motivated, results-oriented leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
  • Understanding polymer technologies, foam manufacturing, and related materials is highly desirable.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with customers and develop solution-based offerings that create measurable value.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 25%.

The expected compensation range for this role is $110,000.00 -$130,000.00.


The compensation range and benefits for this position are based on a full-time schedule for a full calendar year. The salary will vary depending on your job-related skills, experience, and location. Pay increment and frequency of pay will be in accordance with employment classification and applicable laws. For part time roles, your compensation and benefits will be adjusted to reflect your hours. Benefits may be pro-rated for those who start working during the calendar year.
