Product Manager, Ad Tech

Newsweek is seeking a Product Manager to lead the development, optimization, and innovation of our advertising technology stack. This role will focus on driving ad revenue growth and operational efficiency across display, video, native, and branded content inventory. The ideal candidate combines strong product management fundamentals with a deep understanding of digital ad technology, programmatic ecosystems, and yield optimization across both on-site and off-platform environments.

Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end lifecycle of Newsweek’s advertising products, including display, video, native, and branded content experiences.
  • Manage and optimize integrations across Google Ad Manager (in-house instance), Piano, Nativo, LiveIntent, Mux, and related ad tech tools.
  • Collaborate with Ad Operations, Sales, Data, and Engineering teams to define and prioritize roadmap initiatives that increase RPM, ad yield, and programmatic efficiency.
  • Oversee development and rollout of new ad formats, placements, and targeting capabilities across Newsweek.com, newsletters, and social media extensions.
  • Partner with Ad Ops and Engineering to ensure ad delivery quality, reduce latency, and minimize discrepancies.
  • Drive optimization of SSP connections, PMP and direct deals, header bidding, and cross-platform monetization (including Facebook Instant Articles, Apple News, and other social content channels).
  • Support Sales in developing branded content and sponsorship integrations that align with editorial and revenue goals.
  • Coordinate with Engineering to maintain and evolve the ad tech infrastructure within Newsweek’s WordPress VIP, Next.js, and GCP stack.
  • Define and track KPIs such as viewability, fill rate, latency, CTR, and effective RPM across both on-site and distributed channels.
  • Partner with the Data team to ensure accurate measurement and reporting across platforms and campaigns.
  • Stay informed on emerging social media monetization models, ad APIs, and platform policies (e.g., Meta, X, TikTok, YouTube) to inform strategy and ensure compliance.
  • Write clear, actionable user stories, acceptance criteria, and documentation for all ad tech features and integrations.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of product management experience in digital media, advertising technology, or marketing technology.
  • Strong working knowledge of Google Ad Manager (GAM) and programmatic ecosystems (SSPs, header bidding, Open Bidding).
  • Familiarity with Piano, Nativo, LiveIntent, and Mux or similar systems for audience, ad delivery, and video monetization.
  • Experience with social media advertising platforms (e.g., Meta Ads Manager, X/Twitter Ads, TikTok for Business, YouTube Ads) and understanding of how distributed content monetizes.
  • Proven ability to increase ad yield, viewability, and monetization efficiency through technical and strategic initiatives.
  • Proficiency in analytics and performance tools such as GA4, Looker, or GAM reporting.
  • Strong technical literacy—comfortable working with engineers to scope integrations and troubleshoot issues.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills; able to align non-technical stakeholders on technical priorities.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, business, or related field—or equivalent work experience.

Salary range: $120,000 - $130,000
