As the Product Line Manager – Climb, Trail Run & Mountain Essentials, you will leverage your deep understanding of the Patagonia brand and outdoor markets to drive the development and delivery of a product line that not only increases revenue, gross margin, and market share but also aligns with Patagonia’s mission to save our home planet. Your expertise in these specific categories will ensure a strategic assortment of best-in-class products that meet the needs of Patagonia’s various sport communities and end users.

Leveraging your knowledge of Patagonia’s product range, business acumen, market insights, and key stakeholder feedback, you will collaborate with internal product teams and resources to deliver innovative products that resonate with our global sales channels. Your role is crucial in maintaining up-to-date product, competitor, and market information, enabling the Category Director to effectively manage the Climb, Trail Run & Mountain Essentials Categories.

You will work cross-functionally with design, development and marketing teams throughout the product creation process to achieve seasonal product goals. Additionally, you will maintain all systems, information decks, and product marketing materials related to the category. Your ability to create impactful presentations using digital tools will inform and inspire cross-functional and downstream partners about our seasonal product strategies.

In this role, you will contribute to Patagonia’s mission by ensuring that our Climb, Trail Run and Mountain Essentials products are not only market leaders but also reflect our commitment to environmental sustainability and conservation.

What You’ll Do:

  • Maintain a strong POV and strategy around Climb, Trail Run and Mountain Essentials products that creates cohesion, fosters innovation, and supports the brand across these categories.
  • Deliver a globally-relevant product line of best-in-class products that specifically meets the needs of the climb and trail run sport communities and end users, maintain/grow revenue and gross margin, and minimize environmental impact.
  • Engage the interdepartmental product team to drive workflow, operational priorities, and actions towards deadlines on the seasonal Go-To-Market Calendar.
  • Deliver briefs and other forms of product communication to Design, Development, Marketing, and Materials Teams.
  • Oversee and manage relevant and current product, competitor, trend, market and customer information for the Climb, Trail Run and Mountain Essentials categories.
  • Maintain the category line plan, retail pricing, color information, and all relevant product information within the PLM system and necessary line planning, pre-lining, and line review tools for these categories.
  • Work with design and development to ensure all products meet the needs of the customer, fit correctly, executed per the brief, and achieve costing and margin targets.
  • In partnership with the product creation team, help develop products that stay true to Patagonia’s design principles and initiatives and meet the needs of the Climb, Trail Run and Mountain Essential category end users.
  • Develop strong working relationships with colleagues across teams and drive the product development process by enabling and empowering others.
  • Lead presentations and discussions with global sales channels, buyers, and key dealers to gather insights that inform product and line development.
  • Create content and lead presentations with global sales channels at Global Line Reviews and Sales Meetings, in collaboration with Sport Category Marketing team.
  • Develop a strategy for content for sales and marketing tools, merchandising strategies, and other product planning needs essential for delivering seasonal product collections.

Experience You Bring:

  • 5-7+ years experience in product management preferably in the Outdoor, Outerwear,  Climbing and/or Trail Run categories.
  • Experience in the product development process, merchandising and assortment planning processes, strategic product creation process.
  • Deep understanding of or experience in the sports and/or markets targeted by these categories.
  • Deep understanding of this category’s customer base as well as apparel, outdoor industry, and active market (key consumer trends and moments, aesthetic, preferences, relevant brands, industry collaborations, brand history, etc.)
  • Strong background in analyzing market trends, competitor products, and customer needs within the alpine and climb sectors
  • Experience with PLM or another Product Lifecycle Management System.
  • General understanding of apparel construction and sourcing process.
  • Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to deliver presentations to large groups.
  • Exceptional understanding of business and marketing objectives with a proven record of delivering against KPIs. 

Hiring range$135,000-$145,000 USD Annual

At Patagonia, pay ranges are assigned to a job based on the location specific market median of similar jobs according to 3rd party salary benchmark surveys. Individual pay within that range can vary for several reasons including skills/capabilities, experience, and available budget. Note the full pay range for this role ranges from: $127,800.00 - $191,600.00 USD Annual. The Hiring Range reflects where in the range we intend to hire for this role.
