About the role
We’re hiring a Forward Deployed Engineer to build at the intersection of the Plenful platform and our customers’ most critical operational challenges. This is a hands-on technical role where you’ll own the design and delivery of customer-specific solutions, from building integrations with healthcare systems to developing automation workflows and training lightweight ML models tailored to customer needs.

As a Forward Deployed Engineer you’ll play a key role in shaping how Plenful partners with customers, scales solutions, and translates real-world insights back into our core product. You’ll collaborate daily with our technical, product, and commercial teams, ensuring platform solutions are both technically sound and strategically impactful.

This role reports directly to our Head of Product Solutions and offers significant scope for growth as the company scales. You will be expected to deeply understand our platform, our customers, and the complex systems they operate in, so you can build solutions that deliver measurable outcomes across healthcare organizations.
What you’ll do

  • Build new integrations
    • Design, build, and maintain integrations between Plenful and third-party healthcare systems.
    • Translate complex customer workflows and data requirements into scalable, well-architected technical solutions.
    • Develop automation scripts and custom ML models that extend Plenful’s capabilities for specific customer needs.
  • Partner with our customer facing teams
    • Collaborate closely with our technical customer success and account management teams to troubleshoot, iterate, and improve deployed solutions.
    • Incorporate real-time feedback from live customer environments to refine integrations and automations.
    • Act as a trusted technical advisor to our internal team and at times customers, helping them maximize value from the Plenful platform.
  • Collaborate with engineering
    • Translate customer and implementation requirements into clear product specifications for our platform engineering team.
    • Partner with engineering to design and prioritize new platform capabilities that accelerate implementation and scale.
    • Provide product feedback informed by customer context, technical insights, and real-world usage patterns.
What we’re looking for
  • Experience
    • 4+ years in a technical, customer-facing role (ideally in SaaS, healthcare technology, or healthcare operations).
    • Proven success managing complex projects with multiple technical and operational stakeholders, delivering results on time and above expectations.
    • Background in healthcare data exchange standards (e.g., HL7, FHIR, NCPDP) is a strong plus.
  • Technical skills
    • Proficiency in at least one programming language; working knowledge of Python and/or SQL preferred.
    • Experience building integrations, data pipelines, or automations across enterprise systems.
    • Familiarity with healthcare workflows such as 340B program management, prior authorizations, benefit verification, or pharmacy supply chain is a plus.
  • Core competencies
    • Excellent verbal and written communicator who can translate between technical and non-technical audiences.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a structured, detail-oriented approach.
    • Highly organized self-starter who thrives in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.
    • “0→1” mindset. You’re comfortable building from scratch, experimenting, and iterating quickly.
  • Miscellaneous
    • Genuine interest in improving healthcare operations through technology and automation.
    • Energized by collaboration, ownership, and learning in a high-growth startup environment.
    • A bias toward action and ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-moving environment
    • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) or equivalent
Plenful perks
  • Great benefits include unlimited PTO, health insurance, meal stipend, health & wellness stipend, team offsites, 401K matching, and stock options
  • Opportunities to further develop and refine your partnership acumen by partnering with our seasoned leaders
  • Join an all-star team with direct access to executive leadership
