Product Engineer - Workflows

We equip every developer to build successful products.

We started with open-source product analytics, launched out of Y Combinator's W20 cohort.

We've since shipped more than a dozen products, including a built-in data warehouse, a customer data platform, and PostHog AI, an AI-powered analyst that answers product questions, helps users find useful session recordings, and writes custom SQL queries.

Next on the roadmap are messaging, customer analytics, ai task creation and coding based on customer data, logs and support analytics.

PostHog is open source product led, and a default alive company that is well funded.

The Workflows team owns multiple core products at PostHog: the Customer Data Platform (CDP), Messaging, and our upcoming Workflows product.

The Workflows engine is what powers most of CDP + Messaging today, and we plan to build it out into a foundational service that powers automation and orchestration across CDP, Messaging, and other PostHog teams - eventually becoming a standalone product. Think flexible, scalable automation and workflow pipelines for developers and product teams.

As a Product Engineer on the Workflows team you will build and own products & features from beginning to end.

This means talking to users, understanding our strategy and goals, and figuring out what you (and the team) should be building next.

You will be in the unique position to test MVP’s in production with real users, iterate on their feedback, own the pricing, and ensure the ongoing success of your work.

And yes, you will support our customers as a Support Hero to ensure a great experience.

Product engineers at PostHog are truly full stack. You’ll design and ship full stack features which means frontend, backend, infrastructure, and data. You’ll architect scalable, stateful systems for automation, orchestration, and messaging.

And you’ll build the underlying engine that powers workflow automation across PostHog's products and customers.

• You’re a builder. PostHog is full of people who just love building stuff, people who would still be building software even if there wasn’t a paycheck at the end. We’re talking about taking projects from 0 to 1, e.g. You’re a former founder, lead, or maybe you’ve built an impressive side project!

• You bring full stack-experience with relevant technologies including experience with scalable, stateful systems. This is our stack, but we hire lots of people whose main experience is with a different stack.

• You understand scale: You know how to design, build, and operate distributed systems, manage state, and ship robust backend infrastructure at scale.

• You think like a product engineer! You care more about building the best product for the users and helping your team ship than focussing on abstract goals. In short, we'd rather ship than sink, and part of that journey is documenting what you do.

• You love getting things done. Product engineers at PostHog have an incredible amount of autonomy to decide what to work on, so you’ll need to be proactive and just git it done.
