Rubrik is on a mission to secure the world’s data and our Legal Team is committed to supporting this mission, offering critical guidance across many areas of the business. Rubrik’s Legal Team offers tremendous opportunities for team members, handling everything from contracts, vendor agreements, and lease agreements, to more robust areas like intellectual property, employment law, privacy, trade compliance, and litigation. Join us and let’s be unstoppable, together.

We are looking for an experienced, business-savvy Product Counsel who enjoys building cross-functional relationships, has a pragmatic and collaborative approach to problem-solving, and has the judgment and organizational skills to prioritize and manage competing deadlines. This is a key role for a sharp legal mind who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is energized by the opportunity to make an immediate impact driving strategic outcomes across multiple product lines.

As Product Counsel, you will partner closely with our Product, Engineering, Information Security, and Marketing teams to guide products from ideation to launch and beyond. In this role, you will have the unique opportunity to shape Rubrik’s product review framework, drive continuous improvements in our processes, and strengthen Rubrik’s legal, security, and compliance controls without placing an undue burden on the business.

What you’ll do:

  • Serve as the primary legal advisor to Product and Engineering teams from the initial stages of product development to launch and beyond.
  • Lead and coordinate review of new product features and designs with Information Security, Privacy, and other legal and compliance functions.
  • Shape and improve our product review framework to enable legal assessments and guidance at the appropriate points in a product life cycle.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate product-related agreements and policies, including partnership and vendor agreements.
  • Help build scalable processes, including checklists, playbooks, and templates, to support rapid product development while managing risk.
  • Ensure that our products and services comply with laws and regulations, meet our contractual obligations, and align with our security requirements.

Experience you’ll need:

  • JD degree
  • 5+ years of relevant legal experience (experience as product counsel at a technology company preferred)
  • California bar admission in good standing (or Registered In-House counsel status with California state bar).
  • Skilled at working cross-functionally, building relationships, acquiring buy-in, and reaching consensus across multiple stakeholders with different priorities.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage simultaneous projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Comfortable diving into technical details and able to quickly learn new technologies.
  • Software-related technical expertise, experience, or educational background is a plus.
  • Experience in one or more of the following is a plus: data privacy regulations, industry compliance standards, information security, commercial contracts, intellectual property.
