Position Summary:

A process engineer at Crane Resistoflex is responsible for supporting production through daily trouble shooting and root cause analysis to ensure processes are safe, meet quality and throughput requirements and make the work easier for the operators.  This requires hands on involvement and working on the shop floor.  In addition to this support, they will be responsible for design and implementation of tooling and/or process changes to improve manufacturing processes.  They will also own larger cost reduction projects from ideation, feasibility and design, Capital Expenditure approval, and implementation. Lead/Support quality improvement initiatives as per IATF 16949-2016 to achieve set sigma level for value stream. Guide production team on issue resolution using knowledge relevant to your department specialties. 

Principle Duties (includes, but is not limited to):

  • Design and implement improvements to production processes and controls.
  • Develop improvements to manufacturing methods to improve safety, reduce cost, or increase productivity.
  • Aid operations in ensuring parts are safely fabricated in accordance with product specifications.
  • Analyse processes for safety, quality, and efficiency opportunities.
  • Resolve quality issues, identify trends, determine root causes, and take corrective actions.
  • Improve manufacturing process to reduce process variability and increase yields.
  • Represent engineering as part of a cross-functional team including safety, quality, and operations.
  • Prioritize and execute projects within the agreed upon timeline and provide updates on project status.
  • Take ownership of projects and execute through design, fabrication, implementation, and sustainment.
  • Participate in week-long team-based problem solving / continuous improvement events.
  • Develop and manage action plans for long term projects through completion.
  • Research and develop high value cost saving opportunities and use data to project savings that justify any necessary capital expenditure.
  • Participate in quality improvements as per IATF 16949 2016 ensure to complete toll gates for DFMEA, PFMEA, Control Plan, MSA, Process capability study for in house process
  • Ensure requirements of relevant standards like ISO 9001-2015, PED 2014/68/EU, API Spec. Q1, API 6D, etc. are being consistently met and improved. 

Essential Qualifications / Experience:

  • B.S. in Engineering or related degree.
  • Problem solving and root cause analysis skills.
  • Proficient with 2D and 3D CAD software

Preferred Qualifications/Experience

  • Exposure to lean manufacturing, six sigma, and 5S practices.
  • Proficient with data analysis, statistics, and applied mathematics.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand process & product specifications.
  • Basic understanding of industrial assembly, fabrication, and machining processes.
  • Working experience with SolidWorks and AutoCAD
