SUMMARY

Responsible for the annual development, implementation, and presentation of the Private Brands business plan. Perform annual SWOT analysis to identify market and industry changes and utilize this knowledge for business plan development. Oversee daily operations of Private Brand marketing, supply chain, and product development to drive profitability and team performance strategically and operationally. The individual is responsible for communicating direct and indirect performance feedback and individual development plans for PB management and staff members. Demonstrates the business acumen to spot opportunities to increase profitability and holds vendors accountable to quality standards, compliance protocols and contractual agreements for all Private Brand products.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (includes other duties as assigned): 

P&L responsibility for Private Brand products. Develop product plans (profitability targets, retail pricing, sales, marketing, and sourcing plan) that strategically drive sales growth. 

  • Set and maintain pricing strategy to competitively price PB products while maximizing margin. Assess the price/value relationship based on market knowledge and current business environment. Develop pricing standards for Private Brand working with Pricing team.  

  • Lead by example and search for opportunities to profitably improve topline and bottom-line results.  

  • Monitor competitors, their sales channels, and products to understand product availability, trends, pricing, and identify opportunities. Evaluate opportunities for improvement and take appropriate action. 

  • As required, attend major trade shows and events. Overseas travel to qualify vendors or manufacturers and identify opportunities. 

  • Develop a plan to increase team capabilities and product innovations to include product blueprints, inspections, prints and necessary documentation.  

  • Present department plan and outcomes to Officer team.  

  • Specific goals and other duties will be assigned to meet business needs as required.

Work with Private Brand Marketing Manager on the following tasks: 

  • Develop the annual marketing plan for all products sourced and developed by PB Team. Ensure instruction sheets and collateral materials are produced and distributed appropriately. 

  • Identify/develop/source/test non-automotive gift items that have cross-over potential, either as stand-alone or by adding an automotive perspective.  

  • Complete catalog product assortment plans (line lists) and rough page layouts for submission to Catalog Production, Marketing and TDM. 

  • Analyze product offering (catalog and web) – competition, profitability, square inch, and page productivity, etc. – and use information to help develop and implement strategies to grow category sales and improve space performance.  

Work with Private Brands Purchasing Supervisor on the following tasks: 

  • Negotiate price, delivery, product specifications, exclusivity, and terms to support business objectives.   

  • Perform product line reviews and recommend discontinuation of poor performing products or vendors. 

  • Work with freight Team to ensure products are ordered and shipped in the most cost-effective manner possible. 

  • Ensure Private Brand products are stocked at all SRE locations, and vendor service levels are held to a standard of excellence. 

  • Expedite vendor resourcing as needed to avoid supply chain disruptions. 

  • Identify new US and global sources that can supply PB products that meet quality standards. 

  • Develop sourcing agreements to ensure consistent supply and product exclusivity as needed. 

Work with Private Brand Product Development Supervisor on the following tasks: 

  • Identify and develop new concepts, products, or business opportunities in conjunction with manufacturers or distributors if none exists for certain categories. 

  • Monitor, report, and analyze merchandise performance by category and vendor. 

  • Perform product line reviews and recommend discontinuation of poor performing products or vendors. 

  • Develop quality plans for all new products. 

  • Develop engineering standards and identify resources required to produce engineering documentation for sourcing and incoming inspection. 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES  

Fulfills supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Summit Racing Equipment's policies and state/federal laws. Responsibilities to include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE  

Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) from four-year college or university; 10 or more years of work-related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. MBA or advanced degree/education a plus. 

Must have a strong understanding of the consumer automotive market, industry compliance, and direct experience in merchandising a consumer catalog and website. Must own the presentation of the brand in relation to PB products and ensure the quality and integrity of the products meet our brand standards. Experience sourcing products from manufacturers domestically and overseas. 

WORK SCHEDULE

This role requires an in-office presence on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, with the option to work remotely the remaining three weekdays, subject to change based on business needs. Occasional in-office attendance on other weekdays may be necessary to accommodate in-person vendor meetings based on vendor and representative availability.  In-office presence may be required on Thursdays as well as Tuesdays and Wednesdays during initial 90 day training and onboarding period.
