The Opportunity
As a dedicated Privacy Advisor Senior you will guide and facilitate the development, implementation, management and oversight of enterprise privacy programs and processes that support effective risk and compliance management in the first line of defense. Support the enterprise Privacy Office and serves as a subject matter authority for privacy to include federal and state regulations. Partner and collaborate with the lines of business, Compliance and Risk Management, Audit Services, Legal, and Regulators to support privacy-based initiatives. Provide training, mentorship, and oversight to employees within the various business areas that are accountable for adhering to USAA’s privacy standards, policies, and guidelines.
We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position can be based in one of the following locations: Plano, TX, San Antonio, TX, or Charlotte, NC. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
What you'll do:
Serves as a liaison and resource to cross functional teams for privacy-based initiatives to help remediate privacy related issues and risks.
Coordinates, gathers, and analyzes data trends and responds accordingly to multiple lines of business and/or Enterprise specific privacy requirements and requests.
Advises the business on how to strengthen and handle their privacy program to ensure alignment and integration with the Enterprise Privacy Office, Legal and Risk and Compliance.
Applies industry knowledge of the financial services industry and privacy requirements, policies, laws, and regulations to daily work.
Analyze, develop, and deploy privacy policies, standards, and procedures to address privacy related control deficiencies and strengthen the overall control environment.
Performs research, analysis and reporting to identify, resolve, and explain sophisticated cross Bank privacy issues and incidents.
Gathers information to support business analysis, resolve issues and incidents, and identify points of customer concern.
Identifies operational inefficiencies and potential privacy risks and in partnership with the business and other team members recommends solutions to improve operational processes to mitigate risk.
Ensures all internally developed, and commercially available business applications meet or exceed privacy standards and include adequate and measurable controls.
Performs critical business operations or systems applications processes, procedures, and incident remediation action plans to ensure appropriate issues in support of data incidents or other privacy related matters.
Assists the business with translating privacy related control deficiencies into actionable plans and provides recommendations to minimize privacy exposure and strengthen the overall control environment.
Reviews business documents and forms to ensure compliance with enterprise privacy policies and regulatory and legal requirements.
Guides the business, Compliance, Risk Management, Audit Services, and Legal on strategic and tactical responses to internal and external audit questions and analysis.
Performs data risk assessments.
Serves as a liaison between the line of business and the Enterprise Privacy Office.
Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, supervised, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.
What you have:
Bachelor’s degree: OR 4 years of related privacy, compliance, risk or regulatory experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.
6 years of operations experience in a relevant functional area to include financial services, insurance, banking, investment, information technology, legal or other related operational areas that support privacy/risk/compliance initiatives within the business.
4 years of privacy, compliance, risk, or regulatory related experience with accountability for sophisticated projects, processes, or policies.
Validated knowledge of relevant regulatory compliance, industry regulations and regulatory data sources.
Proven analytical, interpersonal, and problem-solving abilities requiring a high attention to detail.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate and implement among cross-functional teams, including all levels of the organization and with external regulatory agencies.
What sets you apart:
- 6 or more years of current Privacy history, expertise and privacy laws within the banking industry.
Expertise with international privacy law.
Business Risk related certificates and/or any certificates through International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP).
US military experience through military service or a military spouse/domestic partner.
Compensation range: The salary range for this position is: $103,450 - $197,730.

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location.
Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
