Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for Principal / Senior Principal Low Observable Survivability Specialist to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Test and Evaluation organization. This position will be located in Palmdale, CA.

Are you ready to put your experience to work at Northrop Grumman? If so, our Depot & Modification Center (D&MC) organization is looking for a Principal / Senior Principal Low Observable (LO) Survivability Specialist to join our dynamic team.

Essential Functions:

  • Work with Liaison and Survivability Engineering to diagnose and correct errors in the maintenance and application of LO treatments.
  • Consult with Liaison and Survivability Engineering in the creation of repairs to LO issues, serving as the LO Subject Matter Expert (SME).
  • Perform LO system performance analysis using diagnostic test equipment and analytical tools.
  • Provide delegated engineering oversight to manufacturing for all items affecting the platform’s LO Statement of Work (SOW), to include providing guidance and training on best practices as well as application specific techniques.

Basic Qualifications:

This requisition may be filled at either a Principal or a Sr. Principal level.

Basic Qualifications for Principal Low Observable Survivability Specialist:

  • A Bachelor's degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math).
  • A minimum of 5 years of applicable experience or 3 years with a Masters in a STEM Field.

Basic Qualifications for Sr Principal Low Observable Survivability Specialist:

  • A Bachelor's degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math).
  • A minimum of 9 years of applicable experience or 7 years with a Masters in a STEM Field.

Basic Qualifications for Both Principal and Sr Principal Low Observable Survivability Specialist:

  • Ability to prioritize and adjust tasks to enable programmatic success.
  • Familiarity with the MRB process.
  • Familiarity with the capabilities, limitations, and the operation of Tier 1 - Tier 3 tools, equipment, and related analysis methods.
  • Experience working in an aircraft depot maintenance or modification facility
  • Demonstrated LO Experience
  • A current and active in-scope DoD Secret clearance.
  • Ability to obtain Top Secret Clearance.
  • Must have ability to obtain and maintain Program Access (PAR) within a reasonable period, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active Special Program Access (SAP)
  • A current DOD Top Secret security clearance.
  • Expertise in B-2 LO: application, formulation, materials, analytics, testing, maintenance and repair. Hands-on experience is highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of low observables and RCS performance
  • Strong interpersonal communication and technical writing skills to enable effective personal interaction and collaboration with a multi-disciplined team and customers.
  • Ability to work with internal support organizations such as Liaison and Security; ability to work well with internal customers such as manufacturing and various labs.
  • Previously granted or currently holds MR or PR authority.

Salary Range: $88,700.00 - $133,100.00Salary Range 2: $109,900.00 - $164,900.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.The application period for the job is estimated to be 20 days from the job posting date. However, this timeline may be shortened or extended depending on business needs and the availability of qualified candidates.
