Position Summary

Nava is looking for an experienced and self-motivated Deputy Program Manager (DPM) / Principal Project Manager to drive and support one of our key strategic programs with an external customer.  The ideal candidate possesses both technical and advanced project management skills with a proven track record leading subordinate project management teams.  The DPM will work closely with the Program Manager to create transparent reporting systems, quality control measures, execution plans, and effective standards and procedures for project teams, internal and external stakeholders.  A successful DPM will be well versed in both Agile and Waterfall delivery frameworks. The DPM will report directly to the Director of Project Management.  This role will require occasional client interface opportunities with occasional travel to New Jersey for onsite meetings and engagements. Estimated travel approximately 25%.

What you’ll do

  • Support the contract Program Manager to lead cross-functional delivery teams of design, product, engineering and project management
  • Organizes, directs, and manages contract operations support functions in support of the contract program manager
  • Responsible for budget, financial execution, and forecasting for the program
  • Directly responsible for leading the Project Management team to support an Agile delivery framework for 9 scrum teams
  • Develop, track, and report against all program-level milestones in an Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) for parallel delivery efforts
  • Develop and track transparent delivery performance metrics for internal and external stakeholders
  • Develop reporting artifacts and escalation channels for risks and opportunities
  • Establish integrated dashboards for real-time status reporting
  • Implement and manage a change management plan for the contract
  • Additional duties as needed in support of the Program Manager or Director of Project Management

Required skills

  • Technical skills: Agile Delivery Framework, P&L Management, Change and Quality Management
  • Experience: Jira/Atlassian Products, GitHub, Mural, Visio, Google Suite
  • Years of experience: 8-10 years of managing IT implementation projects; Education: Bachelor of Science and/or Bachelor of Arts; 15 years of experience in lieu of degree

Desired skills

  • Technical skills: PMI PMP Certification
  • Experience with: Jira/Atlassian Products, GitHub, Mural, Visio, Google Suite
  • Years of experience:  10+ years of direct IT Project Management; 2-3 years platform implementation/deprecation, 5 years of experience with risks, opportunities, issues, and change management
  • Education: B.S. in engineering, computer science, IT Systems Management; 15 years of experience in lieu of degree
