Workiva is seeking a Principal Product Manager to lead the vision, strategy, and execution of our customer-facing Workiva Security product—an enterprise-grade offering that builds on our encryption and BYOK foundation and expands into broader platform security capabilities.
This is a high-impact, strategic role responsible not only for defining a tiered security solution aligned with our platform monetization goals, but also for laying the groundwork for Identity & Access Management (IAM), audit logging, and advanced customer key management. You’ll serve as the product lead for a cross-functional, cross-domain initiative, working closely with engineering, sales, customer experience, legal, and GTM teams to deliver security that’s both trusted and differentiated.
This is a unique opportunity to shape a security portfolio from the ground up—helping transform security into a business enabler for our most regulated and security-conscious customers.
What You’ll Do
Own the product vision, roadmap, and strategy for the Workiva Security product suite, aligning with platform priorities and executive stakeholders
Expand Workiva’s security capabilities beyond encryption, including components of IAM, access control, auditability, and customer-controlled encryption
Act as the voice of the customer, engaging with CISOs, security architects, and enterprise stakeholders to deeply understand security, compliance, and procurement needs
Shape the product’s positioning and packaging strategy in partnership with Product Marketing, Sales, and Customer Experience to drive growth and adoption
Define multi-year product plans that support regulated industries and unlock new revenue streams for Workiva
Lead discovery and validation efforts to de-risk investment and iterate quickly
Drive alignment across engineering, UX, compliance, and legal to ensure delivery of secure, compliant, and scalable features
Mentor and advise other product managers in platform or security-adjacent domains
Communicate direction and outcomes to executive leadership (VP, SVP, EVP level)
What You’ll Need
Minimum Qualifications
10+ years of product management experience in software or enterprise SaaS
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical field (or equivalent hands-on experience)
Demonstrated success launching and scaling cloud-based security or IAM products (e.g., encryption/key management, HSM, authentication/authorization frameworks, audit tooling)
Deep understanding of enterprise security expectations, particularly in regulated industries (e.g., financial services, healthcare, public sector)
Track record of driving both strategy and execution across complex, cross-functional teams
Preferred Qualifications
Experience building or scaling BYOK, HYOK, or SSE-C offerings for enterprise customers
Background in technical pre-sales, procurement reviews, or working with InfoSec teams during evaluations
Experience influencing go-to-market strategy, pricing, packaging, and enablement for security solutions
Executive communication skills, particularly with CISO or procurement audiences
Experience navigating ambiguity and driving measurable business outcomes
Master’s degree in Computer Science or MBA
Travel Requirements & Working Conditions
Willingness to travel up to 20% for team and corporate meetings, fostering relationships and representing company interests
Reliable internet access for any period of time working remotely, as we embrace flexible work arrangements
