Job Description:

We are seeking a strategic and execution-focused Principal Product Manager to lead the continued growth and innovation of the AutomatIQ Borrower® platform, Cotality’s flagship solution for borrower verification and qualification in mortgage origination. This role is central to transforming traditional underwriting by leveraging AI, intelligent automation, and agentic workflows to deliver faster, more accurate, and transparent borrower decisioning.

About AutomatIQ Borrower®:

AutomatIQ Borrower is a unified platform that streamlines borrower verification and qualification by combining Verifications (VOE/I, VOA, Tax Transcripts, SSA, etc.) and Analysis (Income, Assets, Liabilities) into a single, automated experience. It delivers unmatched accuracy and transparency across borrower profiles from straightforward W-2 earners to complex self-employed applicants supporting both digital and physical document workflows.

The platform is evolving to incorporate Agentic AI capabilities, enabling intelligent agents to:

  • Orchestrate verification workflows across multiple data sources.

  • Interpret and reconcile structured and unstructured documents.

  • Generate audit-ready qualification summaries.

  • Adapt dynamically to borrower complexity and lender policy overlays.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define and drive the product strategy and roadmap for borrower verification and qualification services within AutomatIQ Borrower.

  • Lead the integration of AI/ML models, intelligent agents, and decisioning engines to automate underwriting tasks and reduce manual effort.

  • Translate complex underwriting workflows into intuitive, automated product experiences that improve loan quality and reduce cycle times.

  • Serve as the internal SME on borrower qualification workflows, including Credit, Capacity, Collateral, and Capital (the 4Cs).

  • Partner with engineering and architecture teams to design scalable APIs and services that power real-time verification and decisioning.

  • Lead agile ceremonies and ensure delivery of high-quality features through clear acceptance criteria and testable requirements.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

  • Adoption & Engagement:

    • Growth in adoption and usage of AutomatIQ Borrower modules across lender clients.

    • Increase in monthly and daily active users (MAUs/DAUs).

  • Automation & Efficiency:

    • % increase in straight-through processing (STP) rates.

    • Reduction in manual touchpoints and average time to verified borrower qualification.

  • Accuracy & Quality:

    • Improvement in document classification and data extraction accuracy (OCR/NLP).

    • Reduction in underwriting exceptions and repurchase risks.

  • Client Satisfaction:

    • Net Promoter Score (NPS) and Client Satisfaction Score (CSAT).

    • Client retention and renewal rates.

  • Platform Performance:

    • Number of successful LOS/POS and GSE integrations.

    • API uptime and SLA adherence.

  • Innovation & Delivery:

    • % of roadmap features delivered on time.

    • Number of new features launched that directly support underwriting automation and AI-driven workflows.

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Computer Science, or related field.

  • 10+ years in financial services or mortgage technology, with 5+ years focused on borrower verification and qualification.

  • Deep understanding of mortgage origination workflows, especially borrower-facing processes and underwriting decision engines.

  • Proven experience working with LOS/POS platforms (e.g., Encompass, Empower, Mortgage Cadence) and GSE AUS systems (DU, LPA, AIM, D1C).

  • Strong background in API design, data integration, and automation of underwriting logic.

  • Experience with AI/ML technologies, intelligent document processing (IDP), and agent-based automation frameworks is highly desirable.

  • Hands-on experience with agile product development, including backlog grooming, sprint planning, and cross-functional collaboration.

  • Proficiency in tools like Figma, Visio, or Lucidchart for workflow modeling and prototyping.

  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence across technical and business teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Started career as a Loan Underwriter or worked in a mortgage company building decisioning workflows—not just implementing off-the-shelf LOS/POS tools.

  • Experience with borrower analytics, OCR/NLP for document classification, and intelligent automation technologies.

  • Pragmatic Marketing certification or equivalent product training is a plus.

Must-Haves:

  • Mortgage origination domain expertise.

  • Proven product management experience (not business analyst or project manager roles).

  • Experience building or enhancing underwriting automation platforms.
