About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking a Principal Engineer that is an experienced, qualified product engineer that is responsible for ensuring the technical and architectural vision for the product is aligned through solution designs within the Enterprise Product and Pricing Management team. This role will serve as the technical representative for the product during cross-product collaborative efforts and planning and is well-versed in utilization of modern reusable enterprise solutions, establishing design patterns, and solving complex technical challenges. In this role, you will:
  • Act as an advisor to leadership to develop or influence applications, network, information security, database, operating systems, or web technologies for highly complex business and technical needs across multiple groups
  • Lead the strategy and resolution of highly complex and unique challenges requiring in-depth evaluation across multiple areas or the enterprise, delivering solutions that are long-term, large-scale and require vision, creativity, innovation, advanced analytical and inductive thinking
  • Translate advanced technology experience, an in-depth knowledge of the organizations tactical and strategic business objectives, the enterprise technological environment, the organization structure, and strategic technological opportunities and requirements into technical engineering solutions
  • Provide vision, direction and expertise to leadership on implementing innovative and significant business solutions
  • Maintain knowledge of industry best practices and new technologies and recommends innovations that enhance operations or provide a competitive advantage to the organization
  • Strategically engage with all levels of professionals and managers across the enterprise and serve as an expert advisor to leadership
Required Qualifications:
  • 7+ years of Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 7+ years of application development background
  • 7+ years of architect and engineering deep knowledge or experience
  • 7+ years of experience designing LLM prompt engineering, prompt chaining, and evaluation frameworks
Desired Qualifications:
  • Previous and hands on experience with mainframe modernization to target state architectures
  • Ability to lead and deliver complex technical initiatives, with deep understanding of target state frameworks and design principals to guide technical transformation
  • Experience designing with GenAI-powered applications using LLMs (OpenAI, Google Gemini, Anthropic Claude, etc.)
  • Familiarity with AI governance, model risk management, compliance constraints, and responsible AI practices
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to evaluate and resolve technical challenges
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with peers, colleagues, and cross LOB technology teams - excellent communication skills at every level of the organization
  • Ability to lead and influence others and critique their work in a way that improves the overall team and the final product
  • Very deep skills in at least two technical domains - with ability to learn quickly for domains where you have less experience
  • Ability to troubleshoot and analyze performance bottlenecks
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps, and Agile practices
  • Deep understanding of non-functional requirements and systemic controls - embedded in system design and execution
Job Expectations:
  • Ability to travel ~10% of the time
  • Ability to work in global delivery environment and in a hybrid schedule, 3 days a week in office
Pay Range
Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to demonstrated examples of prior performance, skills, experience, or work location. Employees may also be eligible for incentive opportunities.
$159,000.00 - $254,000.00
