About the Role
Micron Technology is seeking a Principal Engineer to lead the company's global waste management program within the Environmental Compliance team! This role establishes global standards, defines performance indicators, and partners across the organization to deliver effective waste management practices worldwide.
You will engage with site environmental health and safety teams and other internal partners. You will handle regulatory risk, support operational excellence, and promote consistent execution across Micron's manufacturing locations globally. How would you build and scale a global waste management program that reduces regulatory risk while supporting operational excellence across diverse manufacturing sites?
What You'll Do
Lead the Global Program
You will run Micron's global waste management program, ensuring consistent implementation across sites and regions. This includes defining global roles and responsibilities, setting clear execution expectations, and translating regulatory and corporate requirements into practical global standards and site-level practices.

Strengthen Compliance and Reduce Risk
You will develop and maintain worldwide waste management standards aligned with applicable laws. Partnering with Legal and site EHS teams, you will identify, assess, and handle waste related compliance risks while providing technical interpretation and mentorship to site teams.

Drive Performance and Continuous Improvement
You will define program targets, metrics, dashboards, and reporting, using data to analyze trends, identify gaps, and drive corrective and preventive actions. Continuous improvement initiatives will be a key focus to strengthen consistency and compliance across regions.

Support Audits, Due Diligence, and Engagement
You will support global and site-level audits and assessments, including follow-up on corrective actions. The role also includes participation in waste related due diligence activities, such as vendor evaluations and new waste streams. You will collaborate with manufacturing, facilities, engineering, procurement, supply chain, and operations to ensure systems and documentation effectively manage risk.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience)
  • 10+ years experience in environmental compliance, waste management, or related EHS roles
  • Experience leading programs or sophisticated initiatives
  • Knowledge of hazardous and non-hazardous waste regulations
  • Experience using data and metrics to drive decisions

Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree or equivalent experience will be considered
  • Experience in semiconductor or other highly regulated manufacturing environments
  • Experience implementing global or multi-site environmental programs
  • Experience supporting waste related due diligence or site expansions
  • Professional environmental or EHS certifications

Additional Information
This role supports Micron operations globally and requires periodic domestic and international travel. Relocation assistance may be available based on business needs.
