Role SummaryCVS/Oak Street Health is seeking a Principal Analytics Architect to design and implement analytical models that enable faster, more reliable decision making across the organization.
This role focuses on translating complex operational data into structured analytical models and semantic layers that support measurement, forecasting, and business insights. The work emphasizes understanding how the business operates and designing analytical systems that allow the organization to answer new questions quickly and consistently.
This role begins as a senior individual contributor position, with the expectation that the individual will help shape Oak Street Health’s analytical modeling practices and may eventually lead a team of like‑minded practitioners as the function grows.
Design analytical models that represent how core business processes operate across Oak Street Health.
Translate complex operational systems into structured, reusable analytical frameworks that support measurement, forecasting, and decision making.
Favor event‑based or transactional modeling approaches that support deterministic historical reconstruction, adjustments, and accurate measurement of business activity.
Build and maintain Power BI semantic models that expose consistent metrics and business definitions across the organization.
Ensure analytical assets support both deep exploration and rapid development of reporting and analysis for business stakeholders.
Investigate operational data sources to understand how the business actually functions and identify opportunities to improve measurement and transparency.
Translate business processes and operational workflows into structured analytical representations that can be reused across analytics and reporting.
Partner with data engineering, analytics engineering, product, and operational teams to inform upstream data requirements needed to support robust analytical models.
Clearly articulate modeling structures and analytical requirements needed to support reliable measurement and analysis.
Contribute to the development of analytics‑ready datasets and semantic models that can support advanced analytics, machine learning, and AI‑driven decision support.
Help identify opportunities where well‑structured analytical models can enable future AI/ML capabilities and automated decision support.
Develop analytical artifacts including models, metric frameworks, and reports that help the organization monitor performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
Enable rapid development of new reporting and analysis by ensuring underlying analytical models are well structured and reusable.
8+ years of experience in analytics, decision science, data analysis, or related fields.
Strong SQL skills and experience working with complex operational datasets.
Experience designing analytical data models for business analysis and reporting.
Experience building semantic models or BI datasets (Power BI preferred).
Ability to translate business processes into structured analytical frameworks.
Ability to work independently in ambiguous environments and define analytical approaches without fully predefined requirements.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in a quantitative, technical, or analytical discipline.
Experience working in healthcare analytics, population health, or value‑based care environments.
Familiarity with Medicare Advantage concepts is helpful but not required.
Background in finance, strategy analytics, or consulting environments is helpful but not required.
Experience using tools such as Excel Power Pivot to prototype analytical models and iterate on metric definitions.
Comfort leveraging modern generative AI tools to accelerate analysis, exploration, and development workflows.
Curiosity about how businesses operate and how performance should be measured.
Strong systems thinking and the ability to identify patterns within complex data environments.
Ability to isolate meaningful signal from noisy or inconsistent operational data and translate that understanding into structured analytical models.
A bias toward building reusable analytical models and frameworks rather than one-off analyses.
Comfort working across business, data, and analytical domains and identifying modeling opportunities without waiting for predefined reporting requests.
Although this role begins as a senior individual contributor position, the Principal Analytics Architect will play a key role in shaping Oak Street Health’s analytical modeling practices.
As the function grows, this individual may have the opportunity to mentor and lead a team of analytics practitioners focused on advanced analytical modeling and decision science.
Oak Street Health continues to expand its data and analytics capabilities to support operational excellence and improved patient outcomes. Well‑designed analytical models and semantic layers allow the organization to measure performance accurately, surface insights quickly, and enable better decisions at every level.
