Job Description SummaryThis SR Staff Infrastructure Architect for hosting Automation Lead is responsible for the design and implementation of automation capabilities across the on-prem hosting environments for GE Aerospace. This requires clear understanding of virtualization, workflow and automation technologies. This role will work with GE’s partners and suppliers to continually improve and simplify its on-prem footprint at current Data Centers and sites. This role works closely with GE Aerospace Cloud, Data Center, virtualization, Infrastructure, Network, Compute and storage teams to automate GE Aerospace’s hosting services. This role will optimize delivery for servers and storage backend and front-end services for GE Aerospace DT teams.Job Description

Role Overview:

  • Technical implementation of automation capabilities for GE Aerospace

  • Point of contact with technical partners and suppliers for ongoing technical design of automation and operational capabilities.

  • Support suppliers and GE teams on automation opportunities that underpin our platforms, technologies, and software choices.

  • Technical design as it relates to automation capabilities across a range of infrastructure components and services as they relate to virtualization requirements and technologies, including (but not limited to) Windows, Sun/Solaris, Linux/Unix, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, NTP, Replication, VMWare & Citrix.

  • Support teams on DC LAN, WAN, Firewall mgmt, DMZ, data replication, storage technology and load balancing issues that are potential opportunities for improvement through automation.

  • Able to operate virtualization services related to App services and middleware, including but not limited to, SFTP, SQL, VDI, Oracle DB, encryption technologies

  • Support technical teams across global Data Center & Infrastructure strategy and it relates to design and enablement of automation technologies for GE Aerospace hosting team.

  • Help GE Aerospace’s teams realize value to our customers as it relates to automation opportunities.

  • Maintain GE’s roadmap for future automation needs. T

  • Help ensure Enterprise Vulnerability management is delivered effectively for GE Aerospace through automation

  • Support GE Aerospace on-prem hosting compliance for CMMC & SOX through automation

  • Support GE Aerospace EoS/EoL (tech debt) strategy through automation.

Ideal Candidate

The Ideal candidate has strong technical depth across automation technologies that support the build and operational delivery of on-prem hosting technologies, whilst being able to work globally, turning customer requirements into automated value based outcomes.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from accredited university with minimum of 7 years of professional experience

  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in infrastructure services and hosting (Compute, virtualization, storage) technologies.

  • Experience working in an ITIL environment

  • ITIL3 and/or ITIL4 foundation certified

Preferred Qualifications

  • Clear, recent experience driving automation across an Enterprise

  • Experience using workflow technologies, service catalogues and how they embed into backend infrastructure components supporting Intelligeni, VmWare and others

  • Basic awareness of scripting technologies and architectural design of VmWare and Intelligeni

  • Recent experience that clearly shows an ability to design and build Enterprise grade automated solutions

  • Clear awareness of the operational day to day requirements of Compute & ‘Sys Admin’ teams that support the common stack of Physical, hypervisor, OS, App, DB, storage, and administration tools

  • Technical tenacity. Intense focus on going deep to resolve technical roadblocks.

  • Demonstrated ability to deliver service automation across the product ecosystem

  • Ability to decompose problems and drive decisions when problems or solutions are not 100% defined

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to proactively identify and remove obstacles or barriers on behalf of the team

  • Solution based thinker with the ability to deliver plans that provide operational stability.

  • Adopt and leverage FLIGHT DECK and lean principals

  • Technical Expertise technical expertise operating, leading, and designing automated solutions, including but not limited to Windows, Linux, CentOS, Ubuntu, Oracle, VmWare, Solaris LDOM’s, virtualized DC’s (VDC), ITAM, vulnerability management tools.

  • High Say/Do Ratio: Puts plans into action. Measures outcomes to ensure continued value.

  • Able to influence multiple stakeholders to deliver technically advantageous outcomes

  • Able to travel as and when needed.
