We are seeking a Senior Representative to join the Policy Accounting team within Corporate Finance at New York Life. This role is critical to ensuring the accuracy and compliance of policy-related and financial transactions within the company's records. The position will investigate and resolve issues affecting both policy administration and the General Ledger, with an emphasis on maintaining strong quality controls and mitigating operational risk.
The ideal candidate will have a foundational knowledge of financial products, a broad understanding of how administrative systems impact downstream processes, and a passion for driving process improvements through cross-functional collaboration. This individual will also participate in strategic projects and initiatives, providing key insights and support.
What You'll Do:
• Ensure accuracy and timely updates of policy records in administrative systems.
• Investigate and resolve complex accounting issues; develop, document, and implement solutions.
• Analyze root causes for discrepancies in General Ledger balances and reconcile against policy activity.
• Produce management reports and assist in the development of new reporting tools under guidance from leadership.
• Monitor reconciliation trends and investigate significant variances.
• Participate in special projects, including new product launches and quarterly/year-end close processes.
Internal Expectations
• Understand and navigate Corporate General Ledger and Corporate Accounting systems.
• Reconcile financial accounts and explain balance changes in relation to field operations.
• Possess basic knowledge of accounting workflows and how they integrate with administrative systems.
• Collaborate across departments to assess process impact and identify improvement opportunities.
Preferred Requirements
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Proficient in reconciliation processes and variance analysis.
• Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
• Technical proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access).
• Ability to interpret internal/external business issues and recommend best practices.
• Collaborative problem-solving skills with an innovative, analytical mindset.
What You'll Bring
• Bachelor's degree preferred (preferably in Accounting, Finance, or a related field).
• Hands-on experience with administrative systems such as rPay and CyberLife, particularly in Fixed and Variable Annuities.
• Familiarity with SAP or equivalent Corporate Accounting systems.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Access).
Pay Transparency
Salary Range: $57,000-$81,500
Overtime eligible: Nonexempt
Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes

Actual base salary will be determined based on several factors but not limited to individual's experience, skills, qualifications, and job location. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition to base salary, employees may also be eligible to participate in an incentive program.
