SUMMARY:
Operates equipment such as cream depositors and monitors key functions around the Bindler Line. Sets up, operates, adjusts, changes over, and dissembles equipment as needed. Current Scope is Cream Depositor Operator and Relief Operator. May also be required to train and function as Kitchen Mixer/Cook.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Cream Depositor Operator:
Start up and check schedule for “order” of candy MOA daily.
Check depositors and cream transfer lines for proper set up.
Check shells for proper temper, weight, and knifing (chipping) before depositing cream.
Controls and operates depositor for proper cream weight, keeping the cream deposit centered in the shell, and no cream tailing. Adjust re-suck and monitor depositor ratio to maintain even deposit.
Maintain &/or adjust the cream level; and take cream weights, calculate & record on SPC chart
Monitor and record temperature of cream, make decision to fill shell based on temperature of cream.
Knowledge of process pertaining to specified depositors and cream amounts for various products.
Pumps out remaining “on hand” cream into buckets. Weighs and labels buckets.
Perform changeovers including cream flushes and configuration.
Relief Operator:
Monitor and adjust computer to maintain shell weights and record on SPC charts.
Monitor tempering units for proper temper of shell and bottom chocolate.
Perform temper tests of chocolate in the shell and bottom rooms.
Document various settings, temperatures and speeds on a daily check list.
Read production schedule and update Packaging End Lead and Process Lead about relief issues (impact of changeovers).
Perform Changeover Tasks including Shell & Bottom Room Chocolate Depositors as well as changes along the line.
Break relief for operating personnel including Cream Depositor Operator, Mould Feed, Weigher Taper, Material Handler, Packers, and/or Knobel Operator.
Monitor Chocolate Depositor & Reclaim Screens to ensure not clogged.
Perform responsibilities of Creamer Operator.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
Assist in mould swaps.
Mould maintenance – Responsible for directional markings, ensure availability of process communication moulds.
Follow standard operating procedures (SOP).
Shut down shell and bottoming room and set up for night heat up, according to procedures.
Monitor shell and bottom room throughout the day.
Scrape pans and rollers to prepare for sanitation.
Melt chocolate and cocoa butter, maintain low viscosity tank in spray booth.
Move supplies; nuts, cherries, chocolate etc. where needed.
Train new employees as required.
Maintain home department in a clean and orderly manner.
Maintain condition of depositor head hot box.
Assist in medial line downtime occurrences.
Mix colored chocolate as necessary; includes filling out Mixer worksheet.
Report problems regarding food safety to supervisor or manager.

WORK SCHEDULE:
Full Time, 1st Shift: 5:00am-1:00pm; 2nd Shift: 1:00pm-9:00pm; 3rd Shift: 9:00pm-5:00am.
Note: Hours may vary based on production schedule; required to work until end of production shift daily; could be scheduled more than 5 days/week, and overtime may be required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Everyday: Production; Adequate lighting, adequate ventilation, & temperature controlled with AC and heat.
Rarely (once/day): Temperatures (Cold Temps, Hot Temps), Elevated Work Surfaces, Close Quarters/Confined Space, Chemicals (Contact)
Sometimes/2 hours per day: Humid/Wet Conditions, Ingredient Dust, and Mechanical Work
Routinely/4 + Hours Daily: Noise > 85 dBA, Moving Machinery, Airborne Powders
JOB PREREQUISITES:
Normal/Corrected Normal Vision, Normal/Corrected Normal Hearing; License to operate electric pallet jack after training; Fork lift license; Ability to add and subtract three or more digit numbers and to multiply and divide using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance; Able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Very Heavy Work - Exerting in excess of 100 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or over 50 lbs. of force frequently, and/or greater than 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects, including the human body. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Heavy work.

Hearing Protection, Long Pants, Slip Resistant Shoes with Safety Toe, Rubber Gloves, Chemical Protective Work Gloves and Clothing, Chemical Goggles, Safety Glasses, Face Shield.
TASK SPECIFIC PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:
Rubber Gloves, Safety Glasses, Face Shield, Dust Mask, Rubber Apron, Chemical Protective Work Gloves, and Fall Protection
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT:
Small hand tools, large wrench, utility knife, rubber mallet, scraper, manual and electric pallet jack, fork lift.
REQUIRED EXAM COMPONENTS:
Pre-Assignment: Math Test
Periodic/Annual: HACCP Test, Fork Lift Training, Fork Lift Test, Electric Fork Lift License, Audiometric Test, Chemical Training

Variable type of work and job rotation
Working different shifts (afternoon or night shift)
