Primary Purpose
Design, implement, and improve developer tooling, CI/CD pipelines, and standardized automated infrastructure on Azure to make it easier and faster for teams to build, test, and deploy software. Provide technical guidance on the GitHub platform, Azure services, and Kubernetes adoption (including configuration and orchestration), helping teams build reliable, scalable, and maintainable delivery workflows.
Our flexible/ hybrid work schedule includes 3 in-person days at one of our core locations and 2 remote days. Our core office locations include Chicago, IL.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Design and evolve CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows that enable teams to reliably ship and operate applications in containerized and cloud environments.
- Develop automation and tooling to streamline build, test, deployment, and operational tasks.
- Help implement best practices for containerized application deployment, including configuration, resource usage, and security basics.
- Improve observability for applications and platforms by implementing logging, monitoring, and alerting across environments and pipelines.
- Work with development teams to understand their needs and translate them into scalable, automated solutions that reduce friction and manual operations.
- Use Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and configuration management tools to define and manage environments in a repeatable, consistent way.
- Participate in efforts to reduce operational toil, address technical debt, and drive continuous improvement in developer experience and platform reliability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners (security, networking, infrastructure, and product teams) to align on standards and ensure stable, secure platforms.
- Stay informed about emerging practices in cloud-native development, CI/CD, and observability, bringing forward ideas that can raise the bar for our engineering practices.
- BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
- 3+ years of experience in software or platform engineering, with exposure to cloud-native or containerized environments.
- Solid programming or scripting skills in at least one language (Java or Python strongly preferred).
- Practical experience building and operating CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions.
- Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes and container orchestration concepts
- Experience working with at least one major cloud provider (Azure preferred) and understanding of core cloud services (compute, networking, storage, identity).
- Exposure to Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, ARM/Bicep) and/or configuration management tools (Ansible, Salt).
- Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Demonstrated commitment to collaboration, inclusivity, and continuous improvement in team practices.
- Proven accountability and ability to deliver in dynamic, fast-paced environments.
- Passion for improving developer productivity and reliability through automation, better tooling, and thoughtful platform design.
- Curiosity and willingness to deepen your skills in Kubernetes, cloud-native architectures, and modern DevOps practices as the ecosystem evolves.
- Experience working in Agile or iterative delivery environments.
- Technical depth and practical experience that helps you build trust with engineering teams while remaining approachable and collaborative.
