The Platform Deployment Engineering team is part of our Professional Services organization and is dedicated to ensuring our new clients and partners get the fastest possible time-to-value from our products. Our core mission is to facilitate a seamless technical onboarding experience and guide customers to their First Desired Outcome—the initial, tangible moment of success that demonstrates the value of their Kentik investment. We work collaboratively to configure the platform, deploy critical agents, and activate the first key use cases, all while building a strong foundational relationship. This highly technical role also requires extensive collaboration with multiple teams within Kentik such as Customer Success Management, Product, and the Operations & Engineering team responsible for developing and maintaining the Kentik platform.

What you'll do
  • Own the technical onboarding and deployment experience for new Kentik customers
  • Collaborate directly with customers to scope and execute the technical implementation plan, ensuring a clear path to their First Desired Outcome
  • Lead the deployment and configuration of the Kentik platform, including Private Agent installation, test creation, and initial setup for new Kentik customers
  • Serve as the primary technical point of contact during the customer's onboarding phase, providing expert guidance and proactive support
  • Work closely with Solutions Engineers, Customer Success Managers, and our Product and Engineering teams to ensure a smooth transition from pre-sales to post-sales
  • Identify and escalate technical challenges or product gaps that may impact a customer's successful onboarding

  • 5+ years experience in a customer-facing technical role focused on software implementation or onboarding
  • Customer-obsessed mindset with a passion for guiding customers to success
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; must be able to articulate highly complex technical topics and ideas clearly, concisely, and effectively
  • Strong demonstrable experience with TCP/IP and Internet routing protocols (IPv4/v6, BGP, MPLS, ISIS, OSPF, HTTP, DNS, etc.
  • Strong demonstrable experience with network monitoring suites (Netflow, J-Flow, sFlow, IPFIX, SNMP, etc.
  • Demonstrable experience with Linux/UNIX systems administration
  • Demonstrable experience with popular network vendor CLI’s (Cisco, Juniper, Arista, etc.)
  • Working experience programming/scripting (Python, Bash, Ruby, PHP, Perl, etc.)
  • Working experience with APIs, maintaining RESTful code
  • Working experience in network and routing security (DDoS mitigation/scrubbing, Firewalls, Security Groups, NACLs, microsegmentation, RPKI)
  • Working experience in creating and analyzing traffic packet captures (tcpdump, Wireshark, etc.)
  • Experience with cloud hyperscalers like AWS, Microsoft Azure, GCP, or OCI
  • Experience with CDN architectures (Anycast, OTT, GSLB, etc.)
  • Experience with synthetic/network performance testing
  • Experience working with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, etc.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time

Our compensation philosophy encompasses a fair program for all in order to attract, engage and retain talented individuals who will drive our business and wow our customers.

The base salary range for this position is: $128,000 - $160,000, with an expected overall targeted earnings (OTE) range of: $160,000 - $200,000. The salary range and OTE reflect the low and high end of the U.S. range Kentik reasonably and generally expects to pay the hired candidate in this role. The actual compensation offered may be lower or higher than the stated range depending on various factors, including but not limited to:

  • Experience with the skill sets required for success
  • Demonstrated competencies and potential 
  • A geographic market-based approach
