Every individual is empowered to take ownership and make a meaningful impact. We strive for efficient and effective operations, and we hold each other accountable for delivering exceptional results.

Here, you will find more than just a job—you will find purpose and pride.

Your Role:

The Plant Controller is responsible for leading all finance and operations accounting activities for Baxter’s North Cove manufacturing facility. This role serves as a key member of the Plant Senior Leadership Team and is accountable for the plant’s financial results. The position provides financial leadership, decision support, and governance to help achieve operational and strategic objectives while ensuring compliance with GAAP, SOX, and company policies.

This is an onsite position working at our North Cove, North Carolina plant location 5 days a week.

This is a unique opportunity to step into a highly visible leadership role at one of Baxter’s most critical manufacturing sites. North Cove supplies more than half of the U.S. IV market, and the Plant Controller plays a central role in ensuring the financial stability and operational readiness of a facility that millions of patients rely on. Following an unprecedented 2024 flood brought on by Hurricane Helene and the rapid recovery that followed, the site is rebuilding stronger than before—modernizing processes, restoring financial discipline, and strengthening controls. The Controller will be a key voice in this next chapter, partnering closely with the Plant Manager and senior leadership team to drive accountability, improve forecasting accuracy, and ensure decisions are grounded in sound financial judgment. You’ll join a leadership team that values transparency, collaboration, and action. With a cross‑functional leadership team of roughly 15 individuals who rely heavily on strong financial guidance—this role becomes the financial anchor of the site. You’ll help leaders understand their numbers, anticipate risks, and take the right steps to meet monthly and quarterly commitments. This is also a chance to develop and mentor the on‑site finance team, elevate financial acumen across the plant, and influence broader supply chain initiatives. For someone who thrives in a hands‑on manufacturing environment, enjoys being at the table for operational decisions, and wants to make a measurable impact quickly, this role offers both challenge and meaningful reward.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Serve as an active member of the Plant Senior Leadership Group, providing financial insight and decision support

  • Own and ensure the accuracy of the plant’s profit and loss statement and balance sheet

  • Maintain full compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), the Sarbanes‑Oxley Act (SOX), Baxter financial policies, and internal controls

  • Lead month‑end close, reporting cycles, quarterly forecasting, and annual and long‑range budgeting

  • Communicate financial performance clearly and proactively, including results, outlook, and key risks and opportunities

  • Partner with operations and functional leaders to drive cost improvements, margin enhancement, and profitability initiatives

  • Provide financial modeling and analysis for capital investments and cost‑improvement opportunities while delivering results against commitments (e.g., manufacturing variances, operating income, cash flow, capital spending)

  • Identify trends and drive continuous improvement across financial and operational processes while supporting the modernization of Integrated Supply Chain (ISC) finance and collaborating with enterprise partners such as Financial Planning & Analysis Centers of Excellence (FP&A COE), Finance Process Optimization (FPO), Baxter Business Services (BBS), and Global ISC

 What You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance (or equivalent) preferred

  • 8+ years of progressive finance experience preferred, with a strong focus on cost accounting and budgeting

  • Expertise in standard costing, budget management, and capital analysis

  • Proven experience leading change and delivering measurable results

  • Shown ability to communicate effectively across all organizational levels

  • Experience navigating a centralized finance environment and building compelling business cases

  • Experience with Lean concepts and tools preferred

  • CPA and/or MBA preferred

Leadership Attributes and Competencies:

  • High energy, accountability, and bias for action

  • Strong business judgment and decision‑support orientation

  • Effective communicator with the ability to influence at all levels

  • Strategic, analytical thinker with intellectual curiosity

  • Confident leader who can constructively challenge peers

  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity and driving change

  • Hands‑on, continuous‑improvement mindset
