The Payroll Analyst will help keep payroll accurate, timely, and easy to trust as Coder grows across states and countries. You’ll support day-to-day payroll operations, reconcile the details behind every run, and help employees get clear answers when questions come up.

You’ll work closely with the Senior Payroll Specialist and partner across Accounting, People, and other teams whose work connects to payroll. Together, you’ll keep payroll data aligned, support clean financial reporting, and improve the processes behind each cycle.

What you’ll do here

  • Support semi-monthly and weekly payroll processing in Rippling, including new hires, terminations, pay changes, off-cycle payments, garnishments, and retroactive adjustments.

  • Reconcile payroll registers against HRIS and benefits data before submission.

  • Work with the Senior Payroll Specialist to resolve discrepancies, align payroll and financial data, and support accurate month-end reporting.

  • Coordinate with the Senior Payroll Specialist and People team on employee changes, compensation updates, benefits deductions, and other payroll inputs.

  • Assist with multi-state tax withholding setup and registrations as Coder expands into new states.

  • Maintain an audit trail of process changes, including rate changes, new state or country registrations.

  • Support year-end payroll processes, including W-2s, W-2c corrections, and ACA reporting.

  • Leverage AI tools to automate workflows and improve current processes.

  • Help maintain payroll systems, including Rippling and Deel, and ensure accurate data flows into Accounting.

  • Respond to payroll tax notices, unemployment claims, and audit requests.

  • Maintain accurate payroll SOPs, controls, and improve process documentation.

What we’re looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • 2–3 years of payroll experience, ideally with multi-state and/or international exposure.

  • Working knowledge of core payroll tax concepts, including FICA and FUTA/SUTA.

  • Proficiency in Excel, including pivot tables and lookups, and/or Google Sheets.

  • Strong reconciliation skills and close attention to detail. Payroll leaves no room for “close enough.”

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work across Accounting, Finance, People, and other teams to resolve issues and keep payroll inputs accurate.

  • Sound judgment when handling confidential compensation, payroll, and personal data.

Bonus tacos if you have

  • Experience using VBA in Excel or Apps Script in Google Sheets.

  • Experience supporting payroll in a high-growth, venture-backed SaaS environment.
