An exciting opportunity has come up for a Paralegal looking to develop their career within a leading investments and professional services firm. Based in our Belfast office this is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office. You will be joining a global business of investment professionals and will work closely with Mercer Alternatives legal, tax, compliance, and investment teams on a diverse range of private market transactions and related support.
We will count on you to:
- Track and manage workflow across multiple fund transactions – from the point of deal initiation through closing – involving coordination across multiple functional teams, as well as external counsel.
- Assist the legal team in all aspects of a transaction, including review and negotiation of documentation, completion of subscription documents, preparation of internal reports and presentations to investment committees, closing and execution.
- Provide legal support and advice to investment teams on a range of corporate actions related to private market investments.
- Work closely with Mercer external legal counsel in relation to the above, where appropriate, to include managing timely delivery of projects and advice within agreed scope and budget.
- Supporting the wider Legal and Compliance team with internal projects and assist in other general legal matters and Compliance activities.
What you need to have:
- Previous experience gained in an international law firm or in-house legal department (ideally of an asset or fund manager, in particular with previous knowledge of private markets).
- Excellent organisational, drafting and negotiation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Strong commercial acumen with an ability to deliver clear and pragmatic solutions.
- Previous experience working in a fast-paced environment, proactively managing multiple deadlines and tasks.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to manage expectations well.
