Role Overview:

Could you be our next Paralegal? Globe Life is looking for a Paralegal to join the team!

This role is responsible for providing comprehensive support across regulatory compliance, consumer complaint management, litigation, and corporate governance functions within the life and accident insurance legal department. Primary responsibilities include managing consumer complaint intake and resolution with state Departments of Insurance, the BBB, and consumers directly, while also supporting litigation activities such as discovery, document productions, and trial preparation. This position plays a key role in regulatory filing processes, multi-jurisdictional compliance tracking, and corporate governance support, including board coordination and corporate record maintenance.

This is a hybrid position located in McKinney, TX. (WFH Monday & Friday, In Office Tuesday–Thursday).

What You Will Do:

  • Manage intake, tracking, and resolution of consumer complaints from state Departments of Insurance, Better Business Bureau, attorneys, and direct consumer reports.
  • Draft timely responses in compliance with state regulations and internal protocols; calendar all deadlines related to complaints; coordinate with Customer Service, Claims, and other departments on escalated matters.
  • Ensure complaints and responses are correctly tracked, stored, documented, logged and reported.
  • Route legal documents to the correct entity or individual as received.
  • Conduct legal research using Lexis/Nexis or other legal research services on insurance laws, regulations, case law, and regulatory guidance.
  • Organize, maintain, and retrieve legal and corporate documents in physical and electronic filing systems; apply standard naming conventions to documents; ensure compliance with document retention policies; maintain organized case files and corporate records.
  • Schedule and coordinate meetings, deadlines, and other time-sensitive matters; prepare meeting agendas and materials; record and distribute meeting minutes; track action items and follow-up requirements.
  • Communicate regularly with internal departments, regulatory personnel, senior executives, and other stakeholders; maintain working knowledge of all departments within the Company and appropriate departmental contacts; facilitate information flow between Legal Department and business units.
  • Undertake special assignments and projects as needed; provide flexible support to attorneys and Legal Department objectives; adapt to changing priorities and urgent matters requiring immediate attention; support general legal matters as assigned.

What You Can Bring:

  • Associate's degree and Paralegal Certificate from an accredited program; or Bachelor's degree in any field; or Associate's degree with a minimum of 2 years of directly related paralegal experience in the insurance or legal industry.
  • Minimum 2–4 years of paralegal, legal assistant, or legal secretary experience within a law firm or corporate legal department.
  • Litigation background with experience supporting discovery, document productions, case management, and trial preparation.
  • Experience with regulatory filing processes, state insurance department interactions, and managing consumer complaints or regulatory correspondence.
  • Prior experience in the life, health, accident, or property/casualty insurance sector with exposure to insurance regulations and compliance matters.
  • Comprehensive understanding of insurance products, policy provisions, riders, industry terminology, and compliance procedures across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Background in multi-jurisdictional compliance and regulatory tracking across multiple states preferred.
  • Corporate governance experience a plus, including board support, meeting coordination, and corporate record maintenance.
  • Experience conducting legal research and preparing written analysis and summaries; expertise with legal research databases (Westlaw, LexisNexis, PACER).
  • Expert-level skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook; experience with document management systems, litigation management software, and corporate governance platforms.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills with the ability to identify issues, problem-solve, draft legal documents, and recommend actionable responses.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision, manage multiple projects, meet critical deadlines, and quickly adjust to changing priorities.
  • Ability to interact professionally with executives, regulatory personnel, and external parties while maintaining strict confidentiality.
  • Prior in-house legal department experience desired but not required.
  • Paralegal Certificate required; Licensed Notary helpful but not required.
