Under the general supervision of the AVP, Contracts or an attorney, the Paralegal – Contracts Analyst will apply critical thinking skills to:

  • Provide reinsurance contract support to SCOR’s US Life business operations.

  • Draft and/or review reinsurance contracts and related documents in compliance with internal business practices and research and document findings relating to in-force treaties

  • Enhance the US Life legal department’s efficiency and improve internal processes by implementing and optimizing legal technology solutions, including using state of the art legal AI tools. 

Responsibilities
  • Analyzing, evaluating, and researching information received from internal and external clients for contracts, amendments and related documents that provide accepted and retroceded reinsurance.

  • Consistently demonstrating a complete understanding of SCOR Life US standard contract clauses and providing a thorough analysis of existing contracts or client prepared documents as they relate to SCOR Life US standard clauses, in accordance with any internal escalation and approval policy(ies).

  • Generating contracts for reinsurance arrangements in an accurate and timely manner in accordance with established metrics. 

  • Consulting, as needed, with management and Law Department regarding the interpretation or clarification of contracts that may impact the company's liability.

  • Utilizing existing systems and procedures and/or establishing new procedures to facilitate the organization and retrieval of documents by and for the Legal department.
  • Identifying, selecting, and implementing legal technology solutions—including AI-powered tools—to automate and optimize contract-related tasks.
  • Accurately responding to inquiries from internal and external clients in a concise, professional and timely manner. 

  • Coordinating interaction between marketing actuaries, pricing actuaries, operations and external clients for the efficient and accurate delivery of contracts.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree strongly preferred 

  • Certificate in Paralegal studies from an accredited institution a plus but not required

  • (Re)insurance industry experience preferred but not required

  • Outstanding organizational skills and interpersonal skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to both understand the “big picture” and pay attention to detail.

  • Ability and willingness to learn and adopt new tools and technologies, including AI-based platforms. Demonstrated ability to both understand the “big picture” and pay attention to detail.

  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office software (Word, Outlook, Excel).

  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment and to work proactively.

  • Strong time management skills and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment; ability to coordinate multiple tasks concurrently.

  • 3+ years of professional work experience preferred but not required.

Relocation assistance within the U.S. is available for this position.

 

Candidates must have valid authorization to work in the U.S. without the need for employer sponsorship now or in the future.

SCOR operates with a hybrid working arrangement. SCOR employees work 3 days per week in an office with 

the flexibility to work 2 days per week remotely.

 

Pay Range for roles performed in NC: $113,000-$138,000 base salary per year. Actual salaries may vary based on various factors including 

but not limited to location, experience, role and performance. The range listed is just one component of SCOR's total compensation 

package for employees. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long term incentives. In addition, we provide a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance 

coverage, life and disability insurance, a retirement saving plan, paid holidays and paid time off.
