This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to [Davison Customer Care Aftersales, Burton MI] on a full-time basis.
The Packaging Engineer in the service parts automotive environment is responsible for designing, supporting, and implementing packaging solutions for automotive components and parts. This role ensures the safe transport, storage, and handling of parts while optimizing costs, maintaining quality, ensuring safety, and promoting sustainability.
Job Description:

  • Design, Development, and Continuous Improvement of Packaging:
  • Create, maintain, and support effective packaging designs.
  • Quality: Maintaining high standards of part and packaging quality.
  • Safety: Ensuring the safety of our packaging designs throughout the entire supply chain.
  • Sustainability : Implementing eco-friendly packaging solutions.
  • Cost Efficiency : Evaluating and optimizing packaging costs, including eliminating waste through lean manufacturing best practices.
  • Innovation : Improving packaging processes and technologies.
  • Prototype Testing: Support the testing and packaging evaluation of prototypes.
  • Compliance and Standards : Ensuring packaging internal and external packaging concepts meet GM and industry regulations.
  • Collaboration : Engaging with cross-functional teams, including operations, purchasing, safety, and quality, to ensure stakeholder success and seamless integration of packaging solutions.
  • Training: Educating staff on best packaging practices.
  • Feedback Loop: Addressing concerns and making adjustments.
  • Independence : Operating autonomously within broad guidelines, with minimal supervision needed to manage standard requests.
  • Problem Solving: Tackling and resolving packaging-related issues.
  • Root Cause Analysis: Identifying the underlying causes of packaging problems to find effective solutions.
  • Corrective Actions: Implementing measures to prevent the recurrence of issues.


This job is not eligible for relocation benefits. Any relocation costs would be the responsibility of the selected candidate.
Additional Description
Required Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience with operations, manufacturing, packaging, logistics, supply chain or related
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Interpersonal skills required to build relationships cross-functionally
  • Strong business acumen and strategic thinking
  • Strong character and integrity
  • Must be willing to work 2nd shift


Preferred:

  • Experience with Power Bi, Excel, Access, Tableau or related
  • Bachelors Degree in Packaging. Supply Chain , or related fields
  • Lean Manufacturing Experience
