Job Responsibilities:
The Operational Quality Manager is a hands-on, floor-based leader responsible for ensuring product quality and compliance across daily manufacturing operations. This role works directly on the shop floor with operators, supervisors, engineers, and customers to prevent defects, respond to quality issues in real time, and drive a strong culture of quality ownership and continuous improvement.
This position is highly visible and requires regular presence on the production floor to coach teams, troubleshoot issues, and ensure quality standards are consistently met.
Your responsibilities
Operational Quality Leadership
  • Maintain a strong daily presence on the production floor to support quality at the source.
  • Lead containment, root cause analysis, and corrective action for internal and external quality issues.
  • Ensure adherence to control plans, work instructions, inspection standards, and customer requirements.
  • Partner with Operations to balance quality, safety, and production targets.

Quality Systems & Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with ISO/IATF or customer-specific quality system requirements.
  • Lead internal audits and support external/customer audits.
  • Maintain and improve quality documentation, standards, and procedures.
  • Monitor KPIs such as scrap, rework, defects, PPM, and FTC yield.

Team Leadership & Development
  • Lead, coach, and develop quality engineers, technicians, and inspectors.
  • Reinforce accountability and quality ownership at all levels of the organization.
  • Train production teams on quality standards, defect recognition, and problem-solving tools.

Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement
  • Facilitate root cause analysis using tools such as 5-Why, Fishbone, and PFMEA.
  • Drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to ensure sustainable solutions.
  • Support lean and continuous improvement initiatives to reduce waste and variation.

Customer & Cross-Functional Interface
  • Act as a key quality contact for customer concerns, corrective actions, and visits.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Maintenance, Supply Chain, and Suppliers to resolve quality issues.
  • Support new launches, engineering changes, and process improvements from a quality standpoint.

  • Supports and enforces the principles of the Employee Charter, Company goals and objectives, and decisions and policies by taking ownership and communicating these in a positive and supportive manner.

Who we are looking for
  • Bachelor degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressive quality experience in a JIT Automotive manufacturing environment; preference of three (3) years of supervisory responsibility.
  • Strong working knowledge of IATF 16949, Core Tools, and customer-specific requirements.
  • Ability to lead in fast-paced, hands-on production environments.
  • Working knowledge of Quality Systems (i.e. QOS, FMEAs, Control Plans, Statistics, APQP).
