About Sparkfund

Sparkfund is the deployment services company utilities rely on to take DERs from grid edge to grid core.

With over a decade of experience as a utility services company, Sparkfund has pioneered a smarter approach to deploying distributed assets as part of a fast-growing grid. Through its Distributed Capacity Procurement (DCP) model, Sparkfund enables utilities to plan, deploy, and dispatch DERs at the scale and pace necessary to meet load growth demand and unlock the full value of the grid. We support program design, assessment of DER grid value, host engagement, and value chain management to ensure on-time, on-budget deployment of distributed resources with maximum grid value and lowest cost.

With more than 3,500 projects deployed across 43 states and more than 300MW of energized assets constructed, Sparkfund is transforming buildings into a valuable extension of the grid for the benefit of our society.

The Work Ahead

The DCP initiative is scaling quickly, and we expect to open roles in several key areas. Candidates with experience in the following domains are encouraged to express interest:

🚀 Deployment & Program Delivery

  • Program Managers / Directors: Lead multi-stakeholder deployment programs, manage cross-functional teams, and oversee performance across technical and commercial KPIs.
  • Deployment Associates: Support project tracking, partner coordination, and data management across a fast-moving deployment portfolio.

⚡ Technical Development & Engineering

  • Energy Storage Engineers / DER Engineers: Lead technical design, application, and feasibility work for BESS, solar, and DER integration.
  • Interconnection or Grid Integration Specialists: Manage utility interconnection processes and support technical diligence for distributed infrastructure.

👥 Customer & Host Engagement

  • Host Engagement Leads / Managers: Develop and manage relationships with site hosts (property owners, facility managers) to build and maintain pipelines of DER-ready sites.
  • Customer Success & Onboarding Specialists: Support site activation, onboarding, and ongoing host satisfaction throughout program lifecycle.

🏛️ Policy, Regulatory, and Market Strategy

  • Regulatory Analysts or Policy Managers: Analyze utility programs, rate structures, and regulatory filings; shape strategies to align DCP with evolving policy landscapes.
  • Market Development Leads: Drive go-to-market strategy and positioning with utilities, local governments, and partners in new and emerging markets.

🔧 Operations & Systems

  • Operations Associates / Systems Analysts: Build and refine internal systems to track milestones, manage data, and drive visibility across the DCP ecosystem.
  • Process & Tools Leads: Develop workflows and platforms that support reporting, automation, and continuous improvement across the program.

What We Look For

  • Mission-alignment: Passion for accelerating clean energy deployment and transforming utility business models
  • Systems thinking: Ability to see across functions, anticipate interdependencies, and connect dots in a complex ecosystem
  • Adaptability: Comfort navigating ambiguity and evolving scopes in a rapidly growing program
  • Collaboration: Enthusiasm for working cross-functionally and engaging diverse internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience: Background in energy, utilities, infrastructure, or climate-adjacent industries is preferred, but not required
