Are you driven to design and optimize complex network systems for lasting reliability? As a Network Engineer at Spectrum, you will lead the planning and implementation of advanced network architectures while recommending enhancements that keep operations at the forefront of innovation. Your contributions will directly strengthen customer connectivity and support Spectrum's growth through impactful solutions.
How You Will Make an Impact
  • Lead the planning and engineering of advanced network architectures to address high-complexity business needs
  • Design and establish protocol compatibility standards to ensure seamless integration of communication technologies
  • Develop and implement network enhancements while providing recommendations for operational improvements
  • Integrate and visually map communication topologies, hardware, software and protocols into complete configurations
  • Evaluate new products and resolve complex network issues, including escalated tier support for internal teams and third-party vendors
  • Document technical standards and develop approved methods of procedure for optimal network performance
  • Coach less experienced staff and contribute as a project team member or occasional team lead, adhering to regulatory and company requirements

  • 24x7 Network Operations environment
  • On-call responsibilities may be required depending on business needs
  • Occasional travel required

What You Will Bring to Spectrum
Required Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field, or equivalent work experience

Experience
  • 5+ years of data network experience

Skills
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
  • Proficient in using personal computer and software applications
  • In-depth knowledge of data networking including OSI Model, TCP/IP and Optical Transport
  • Strong teamwork skills
  • Advanced understanding of industry specifications and standards such as IEEE, ANSI and multiple fiber types, Bridging, Switching, Routing, Ethernet and Transport protocols
  • Expertise in network design, architecture, protocols and topology
  • Skilled in ticketing and software tools for current operations
  • Knowledge of basic network devices and appliances
  • Proficient with network design software such as Visio
  • Adaptable to fast-paced environments and quick to learn new technology
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office

Preferred Qualifications
Education
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)
  • Industry and vendor-specific certifications and training (Cisco, Juniper, Alcatel-Lucent)

Skills
  • Knowledge of company products and services
