Your role and responsibilities:

The National Key Account Manager is responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships at various levels, developing supplier preference, delivering growth in order intake and share of wallet, and managing account strategies at defined key accounts. The position is also responsible for driving collaboration across relevant Divisions of ABB to ensure the best possible Customer experience.

This role may be remote in Texas, with reporting responsibilities into the Houston, TX Office.

The work model for the role is: Remote #LI-Remote

You will be mainly accountable for:

  • Develop and lead strategic long-term plans for assigned accounts. Focus on opportunity discovery and development. Identify and pursue Capex projects. Focus on maximizing order volume and profitability for assigned accounts.
  • Lead early and continuous Customer engagement efforts and manage customer experience throughout the entire sales cycle.
  • Build and maintain executive relationships with client organizations and engage ABB sponsors as necessary.
  • Coordinate activities with other Divisions of ABB as well as Global and Strategic Account Managers. Build cross-division account teams to enable System Drives Packaging to effectively serve key accounts.
  • Engage Segment and Product Management as well as Tendering and Sales Support teams as required to influence specifications and develop solutions favorable to ABB’s Motion portfolio. Work closely with the Tendering team in the bidding phase of the sales cycle to ensure best-in-class Customer experience and on-time proposals.
  • From early opportunity discovery through the entire sales cycle, coordinate with Sales Proposal Engineers, Segment Managers, Channel Managers, Global and Strategic Account Managers, and other ABB Divisions to define and execute winning strategies including necessary relationship development, specification influencing, value proposition formulation, technical solution development, commercial positioning, and pricing.

Qualifications for the role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in Medium Voltage (MV) Variable Frequency Drives, Motors and related project sales experience.
  • Proven experience with building and maintenance of executive relationships internal and external of ABB, 3rd Parties and End Customers.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with CRM – Salesforce Preferred.
  • Availability for > 50% + Travel.
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in engineering or business administration preferred.
  • Industry Knowledge and/or Experience in Water/Wastewater, Mining, Cement Metals, Oil and Gas, Chemical and Power.
