The Enterprise Effects Division (EED) drives integration of Aerospace's strategic capabilities across the national space enterprise. The division leverages a broad array of engineering disciplines against a dynamic portfolio of programs, customers, and national challenges. EED spans the capability lifecycle from concept and architecture design to performance assessment to application of space and space-enabled capabilities.
The Tracking Architecture Performance Department (TAPD) in the Integrated Performance Subdivision (IPS) conducts, directs and integrates model-based analyses, empowering teams and staff to deliver differentiated and context-informed insights. The department is comprised of 15 engineers responsible for modeling, simulation, and analysis (MS&A) of missile defense and space domain awareness architectures, and serves as a center of excellence for the development and assessment of tracking methods that fuse data from various sources.
The Project Engineer or Senior Project Engineer will interface with the customer to develop solutions to meet their sensor management and tracking requirements. This position requires capability to dive deep into technical areas including development and optimization of sensor architectures and sensor tasking approaches for MW/MT/MD.

This full-time position requires 100% onsite work in Colorado Springs, CO, El Segundo, CA or Chantilly, VA
What You'll Be Doing

  • Technical Direction and Advisement: Provide technical direction and advice to Technical Leads and members in algorithm development and detailed analyses support. Ensure application of engineering and scientific rigor and best practices.
  • Technical Oversight: Maintain a comprehensive, integrated technical perspective of the development effort across all lifecycle phases and products in supporting that lifecycle.
  • External Partner Liaison: Serve as the primary technical point of contact for C2 National Team.
  • Technical Reviews: Perform thorough technical reviews of products.
  • Position Development and Review: Create and/or review team positions and make recommendations.
  • Mentorship and Guidance: Mentor and provide technical direction to team members and partnering organizations.
  • Supervision: Supervise team Lead Engineers from partnering organizations.
  • Technical Prioritization: Provide overarching technical prioritization for work efforts and review work plans for consistency with those priorities.
  • Emergent Task Leadership: Provide initial leadership for emergent tasks


What You Need to be Successful
Minimum Requirements for the Project Engineer - Modeling & Simulation and Signal & Image Process Engineering:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical engineering or science discipline (Aerospace Eng., Electrical Eng., Mathematics, Physics or related field) is required.
  • A minimum of 6 years of applicable professional experience leading technical teams and coordinating complex modeling and analysis tasks.
  • Experience in algorithm development in Multi-Target Tracking, radar and EO/IR sensor tasking and custody, Missile Defense Battle Management or other related fields.
  • Willingness to occasionally travel and/or work off-business hours to support customer needs, approximately 10% (as required).
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.


In addition to the above, the minimum requirements for the Senior Project Engineer - Modeling & Simulation and Signal & Image Process Engineering include:

  • A minimum of 10 years of applicable professional experience leading technical teams and coordinating complex modeling and analysis tasks.


How You Can Stand Out
It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:

  • Master's or PhD degree in related STEM discipline.
  • Expert level programming skills in languages such as C, C++, Python, FORTRAN
  • Expertise in C2BMC or related command and control systems.
  • Familiarity with tools such as Bitbucket, GitHub, JIRA, Confluence
  • Current, active TS/SCI or SAP clearance.
  • Leadership experience in a customer-facing organization.
  • The ability to communicate effectively with management, program offices, customers, contractors, and colleagues is essential.
  • Experience leading technical teams, and mentoring junior staff
  • Experience in identifying, prioritizing, and resolving technical issues.
  • Knowledge of government space mission architectures and mission-effects chains involving multi-target tracking architectures.
  • Knowledge of extended Kalman filter, unscented Kalman filter, batch filter, Gauss Von Mises, track filtering/fusion, kinematic model selection, correlation and association.
  • Demonstrated strength in architecture and sensor-level simulations and evaluation, mission performance assessments with emphasis in multi-target tracking, detection, and estimation.

Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.
