Summary:

As a Business Development Manager (BDM), you will be responsible for driving strategic growth within the multifamily housing and property management sector. This role blends individual sales production, joint selling support for local branch teams, and long-term business development and relationship management. The BDM will identify, engage, and secure new clients by positioning Vector Security’s industry-leading smart security and automation solutions. Success requires a hunter mentality, strong industry acumen, and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally to deliver tailored, scalable technology solutions.

What You'll Do:

  • Sales and Sales Support:
    • Meet established sales quotas assigned for multifamily between individual and joint branch sales within assigned territory through a combination of individual sales production and supporting the sales process with sales reps throughout the branches within the territory. 
    • Serve as the subject matter expert to assist in system design by recommending the best solutions for the application. 
    • Serve as a project liaison between sales and operations to ensure successful project deployments. Participate in required project meetings, project starts, and site visits when applicable. 
    • Support the local branches in the territory through multifamily sales training and continued awareness, and by assisting in product demonstrations and presentations in the branches. 
  • Lead Generation / Business Development:
    • Create sales opportunities to assist in individual and branch production through industry trade shows, related trade association networking meetings, prospecting, and cold calling. 
  • Account Management:
    • Build and maintain client relationships by staying engaged with customers with any product updates and system/account reviews with consistent communication to key accounts. 

What You'll Need:

  • Sales Experience:
    • Minimum of five years sales experience - required. 
    • Enterprise or large commercial sales experience - preferred. 
    • Strong knowledge of multifamily industry products / services - preferred. 
    • Demonstrated success in historical sales capacity. 

  • Prospecting Skills:
    • In order to expand our Multifamily business, it is important that this position be able to build new relationships for the company and branches. 
  • Presentation Skills:
    • Ability to present complex integrated enterprise solutions that are common in the Multifamily environment as well as conduct branch trainings. 
  • Closing Skills:
    • Must be able to close proposals at a rate deemed acceptable by management, overcome objections, have strong negotiation skills, and manage longer sales cycles.
