Insomniac Games is looking for a Mission Director. In this role the Mission Director leads the creative development of a set of missions within a game. Ensures excellent deliverables at every stage of the mission pipeline by upholding the vision, setting development goals, communicating decisions, evaluating builds, adjusting priorities, and solving problems in collaboration with project leaders and mission pods.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Leads a set of cross-disciplinary pods in the development of exceptional missions

  • Defines mission development goals and success measures in coordination with project leaders

  • Guides the creation of mission briefs, pitches, mission stories, and gameplay beats in collaboration with designers, writers, and mission pods

  • Ensures constructive two-way communication between project leaders and mission pods

  • Plays the game at all stages of development alongside mission pods to evaluate progress toward delivering on success measures for goals

  • Synthesizes feedback from multiple sources and crafts plans of action in partnership with project leaders, project managers, and mission pods

  • Promotes pod and individual ownership for problem-solving; harnesses the expertise of craft contributors within the mission pod

  • Builds development plans alongside project managers to deliver missions at quality, on time, and in budget

  • Fosters a safe work environment by ensuring that all complaints and concerns related to inappropriate or unprofessional conduct in the workplace are addressed immediately

  • Other duties may be assigned

  • Creative collaboration and problem solving, with an understanding that many times it’s appropriate to defer to the expertise of specialists

  • Effective time management, with the ability to delegate tasks and focus on larger issues while monitoring critical smaller details

  • Detailed knowledge of story, design, experience creation, and development craft

  • A strong critical eye for detail and the ability to communicate effectively to resolve issues

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Deadline-oriented approach, with the ability to lead to good results even in difficult situations


Computer Skills: Proficient with Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, and Excel. Technically adept enough to learn proprietary computer-based game review and task tracking tools.


Travel: This role may be required to travel – potentially up to 10 days a year, depending on game cycles and co-dev partner capabilities

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location. 
Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.

This is a flexible role that can be remote, with varying pay ranges based on geographic location. For example, if you are based out of Seattle, the estimated base pay range for this role is listed below.
$145,100$217,700 USD
