Steel Specialty Inc. is seeking a skilled Miscellaneous Steel Fabricator to join our fabrication team. This position is responsible for reading shop drawings, laying out materials, fitting, and fabricating a wide variety of miscellaneous steel products while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and craftsmanship.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret structural and miscellaneous steel shop drawings.
- Layout, fit, and fabricate miscellaneous steel assemblies.
- Fabricate stairs, rails, ladders, roof frames, dumpster gates, and other miscellaneous steel products.
- Perform fit-up prior to welding.
- Verify dimensions and maintain quality throughout fabrication.
- Operate and maintain welding equipment and tools, ensuring safety protocols are followed at all times.
- Work safely while maintaining a clean work area.
- Coordinate with supervisors and other shop personnel to meet production schedules.
- Identify drawing discrepancies and communicate issues before fabrication.
- Assist with loading, unloading, or moving fabricated materials as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of miscellaneous steel fabrication experience.
- Ability to read fabrication drawings.
- Experience fabricating stairs, rails, ladders, and custom steel products.
- Proficient using tape measures, squares, levels, and layout tools.
- Ability to safely operate standard fabrication equipment.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently.
- Welding experience (FCAW, GMAW, or SMAW).
- Experience in an AISC-certified fabrication shop.
- Forklift or overhead crane experience.
