Job Description

Critical Skills

1 - Proven MicroStrategy Administrations skills and experience in managing and tuning production and non-production environments - we do not want a developer with some administration exposure, we want an individual whose primary role is administration and having some developer exposure is a plus

2 – Proven experience administering MicroStrategy Intelligence Server and Web Server clustered environments on Linux – Linux expertise is critical


Additional/Preferred Skills

• Object Manager / Command Manager

• Enterprise Manager and/or Operations Manager

• Task automation using System Manager, Command Manager, integration with CI/CD tools

• MicroStrategy Certified Administrator


Role Description

• System Administration

        o Maintenance

        o Monitoring

                • Experience with Enterprise Manager, Operations Manager

                • Monitoring/managing overall system health

                • Monitoring/tuning environment configuration and settings

                • Monitoring/advising for addressing long running reports

                • Periodic auditing/reporting for inactive users

        o Installation, configuration, upgrading of software components for major/minor/patch releases

        o Support performance testing, etc.

        o Aid in developing/implementing/testing disaster recovery strategy and mechanisms for MicroStrategy architecture

        o Capacity planning and management


• Troubleshooting/Issue Resolution

        o Help reproduce production issues for logging tickets with Tech Support

        o Analyze Intelligence Server and Web Server logs while troubleshooting

        o Change logging settings if needed

        o Run queries against Netezza and PostgreSQL databases as required for issue research

        o Submitting and managing issues and enhancement cases with MicroStrategy for administration/environment related items


• Deployments

        o Support development teams via object/code migrations across environments

        o Develop CI/CD mechanisms and automation for deploying MicroStrategy project and configuration changes across the various environments


• User/Group Provisioning

        o Support development teams with user/group security provisioning

        o Aid in automating user provisioning
